It's true. It was confirmed today in our TV. I wonder, if it is really impossible to pull it out of the water

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Russians had stuffed it with Type XXI submarine sections and other war booty before they attempted to tow it home. I would rather raise this ship than the Titanic. Do you know if it is in one piece.

Very cool find! Its a wonder Germany didn't ever use it in battle, especially during the early years of the war when its navy had some degree of autonomy. Aircraft carriers, obviouly, were not a priority for Hitler, he instead being seduce by the more romantic image of the powerful (if impractical) battleship. That's not to say that he didn't plan on building carriers, only that most of the ideas were given target dates for 1946...

From the sound of it, the Graff Zepplin is in pretty deep water as the Polish exploration team was having to use ROVs to examine it. Given that its been underwater for 60 years the wreck would invariably be too fragile to pull up, in addition to it being too massive.

There is a model kit of the Graff Zepplin (as it would have appeared when operational) made by the Revell company. I've only seen it for sale in Europe, but it could also be avaliable in the US. This is the box art:

To answer your question Red. Everthing the Russians could stuff into her from the local area (tech wise) that Russia though might aid her in the post war era. There was also a second carrier that was planned but it was cancelled much earlier in the program.
