Got to watch it twice now on DVD. The battle scenes rival anything in S.P.R. or B.o.B. The carnage was certainly more grizzly and graphic. Some of the C.G. scenes were used in "Letters form Iwo Jima". Was great to see real Corsairs in some of the scenes. Always wondered if they ever got lucky and put a rocket or bomb in a cave entrance. Was surprised to see warships being hit by artillery from the Japanese emplacements. Would have thought they would have stayed further off shore. I don't recall ever reading about Cruisers and Battleships being hit like that.

The story line was a little tough to follow and was surely over dramatized for Hollywood.
All said it's in my top 5. :salute:

What makes the P-51 Mustang so special?

"It would do for 8 hours what a Spitfire would do for 45 minutes."
