Now that's a big photo...
Took a shot I have of a F/A-18F Super Hornet from the Planes of Fame Airshow as she made a
high speed pass on Saturday:
(Original Shot):
And work (I work at a Senior/Underclass/Dance/Sport Photography Studio) asked me to create a 'Top Gun' themed 20 foot by 10 foot backdrop for an upcoming dance with that theme. Well, I don't really have any shots of F-14s flying since 1997 (pre me going digital), so I didn't want to use those. So, I decided to use the F/A-18 Super Hornet since it is the Navy's modern fighter at the moment and is the replacement for the now retired F-14 Tomcat. So, I took that F/A-18f Super Hornet (being flown by a very cool woman might I add!) and duplicated it changing the numbers to '138'. I cleaned up the '138' Hornet to make it look slight different than the other one and also made it flying in a slightly higher angle. On the original Hornet, '133', I repainted the helmet to look more red and yellow, like a Star Wars X-Wing pilot's helmet. I also added a flashing light on the tail. Threw in a flag photo I took earlier this year when walking at the beach one day when it was windy, added vapor trails, heat haze from the engines, and even (hard to see unless you look at it person) afterburner effects... and voil: The BIGGEST print ever of my photos! I was very happy to see they were very crisp and clear! Just goes to add another notch in how awesome the Canon Rebel XT is with quality!
The Final banner (with me for scale... remember, this is a 20 foot by 10 foot backdrop!)

As an avid airshow attende and photo hack, May I just say, " I hate you!" but thanks for sharing. Next time I pick up my prints of bright blue sky with small grey dots I'll think of you, and curse my lack of talent
Those magnificent men in their flying machines, go SHOPPING at <a href="http://www.updiddilyupup.com/xcart/home.php"><img src="http://updiddilyupup.com/xcart/skin1/images/xlogo.gif" WIDTH=25%></a>
Great photo!
Thanks for sharing the photo mural...great stuff for sure!!
As a hobby, I've gone over to the digital side this past year after about 30 years in traditional photography. I love the digital stuff, while I once splashed around in the developer, stop, and fixer; now I can do all my darkroom stuff in PhotoShop on my computer! I do love it...mostly wildlife and artsy' photography. I have a Pentax *istD (fits all my old lenses!) and use a Rebel XT at work.
Regards,
JimBob

Wait... which one? If you're talking about the gal who looked like Slave Leia from Return of the Jedi, then you are correct (well, not that she was 'paid'... we are dating). If you're talking about the gal in the black with the X-Men shirt on, she was from the booth next to us (the activision booth) and she just came over to visit and get a photo with me.

Yes when Confederate Air Force was based in Harlingen (South Texas) I used to go see the planes on spring break many years ago. I was actually able to talk my way into an inside tour of their B-29. They also had a running Me-109. Great days. Maybe someday I'll get to visit my relatives in San Luis Obisbo.
