selling my Picklehaube 1/18 Horten 229 on Ebay

Post by xddave » Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:27 pm

this one breaks my heart to sell it as I love the 229, but I haven't built a kit in two years and have recently racked up a ton of medical expenses for a rotator cuff / ACL problem in my shoulder. I may be in for a 6 week recovery. So a lot of my model kits and my XD has to go. Better to someone who will build them and enjoy them.

anyway, kit is just as it came from our resin master PH. I've reboxed it for even safer shipping with more padding. I'm starting the auction at what I paid for the kit plus the shipping so I at least break even. The auction will be active later today.

thanks again Pickel for making this beautiful kit, wish I had time to do it justice. I know Ebay auctions can be a hot-topic around here, but wanted everyone to know who was selling a kit from one of our own.

I purchase a lot from ebay US (I'm in Canada) but only see import charges once, and this is the 2nd time I see it. May I ask why there is import charges pay to the seller when the same item will be taxed again when the buyer receive it ?

thanks

I don't know, that is a question best answered by Ebay Global Shipping, Canada Post or the Customs dept.

I decided to sell it globally in hopes of widening the market as well as satisfying worldwide buyers. I won't bore everyone by going into detail about my bad experiences shipping to Canada or Internationally with my local post office. I listed it as shipping with Ebay Global Shipping as they will handle all the import duties and customs forms.

Ebay global shipping is another Ebay bullshit program., So angry with this crap. I sold some planes overseas and did not even know the box was checked for this program. Now I can't even send invoice to the buyer. Ebay you have done it again.

Same here. I sold a plane to someone in Taiwan w/o my knowledge! Address is not verified because its going to a third party shipper. Wonder what happens when an overseas payment like this is fraudelent---let me guess---I will have to eat it! Not sure when this Global program started but I am very careful now to UNcheck this option in my ad.

yes Ebay has changed their listing page so it defaults to "yes" for Global shipping unless you manually uncheck it. Pretty sneaky if you ask me.

all these horror stories are freaking me out about shipping it overseas. Any way to protect myself from losing my a** to a fraudulent buyer?

485 views, 35 watchers and a whopping 1 bid.

for now, looks like Pickel is getting back one of his Hortens.
