Salvage Yard

Post by aferguson » Sun Oct 30, 2011 8:24 am

This thread is for people who have bits and pieces (eg canopies, props, wings etc) of 1/18, 32x and other scale military items to offer to other members. Leftovers from customs, damaged items etc.

Can we also put what we are looking for in here?

I like this concept. Now I just have to dig out all those boxes full of stuff...

That's the idea..... Make stuff available that you don't need, and find stuff you want.

I am looking for main landing gear doors and strut panels for 1/18 P-47s. They are all the same so any will work. I need rights and lefts.

Looking for 1/32 sliding canopy part for P-40, "Flying Tigers".

Although any P-40 canopy will do.

Looking for a closed canopy for a 1:32 P-51 B/C Shangri La.
The one with the panes in it not the bubble type.

I bought one that only had the permanent open canopy which is good for ground display, but I'd like to hang it up in flight. Till then it's grounded.

This sticky is a great idea. I do have a few questions though. I thought it was for people to post what they have available and not a wanted list. It seems pretty clear that the wants will quickly smother the haves. I liked Snake Mans original idea of it being for available items only and not have a lot of extra posts cluttering it up. We can continue to post our needs in the open forum after checking the Salvage Yard first. Besides, after a few pages no one will see everyone’s wants anyway. If people feel they need to combine wants maybe we can have a 2nd sticky just for those. I prefer posting my needs in my own post but I’ll do whatever everyone thinks is best.

In retrospect, I might be better split into two sections. I think it best to let the admins decide on that after we see how well it works.

I agree. We need maybe two separate stickies, one for wants and the other for for sale/trade/ect.

Agree with toyktdlgh.

Salvage yard would better serve the members if it listed what was available.

People could still post what they needed separately.

My 2 cents.

What if we have stuff we would give away? I havent been on for 6 months...but I have some odd stuff that I would get rid of just because it was left overs from stuff I sold.

1:32 drop tanks for a corsair
1:32 drop tanks for a p-51 and an open made canopy that came with it and was a switch out from the closed one they gave you.

I dont know who would want to buy them, so I would probably just give them to whoever if they would pay shipping.

This is the kind of thing I have in mind. I myself am looking for two of the small bombs, complete with racks that mount on the 1/18 stuka wings. Give away or sell, either one, but I think a lot of stuff is hunted for by members to replace lost or broken items. Even large stuff, like wings, fuselages, rudders, etc. Over the weekend I saw a thunderbolt and a FW190D with missing parts. These will likely be tossed in a box and forgotten, when they could be made available to provide parts needed by other members. The major manufacturers are not producing much any more, so needed parts are scarce.

Got some parts from a BBI Corsair: rockets and drop tanks.
Rockets from P38, drop tanks and rocketpods P47, drop tanks Mustang, drop tanks Fw190 and some Stuka parts. I´m searching for pilot figures (every kind of, Heli-pilots too) and a complete Avenger gun turret and complete Avenger propellor-motor-section.
Could offer many different figures (German, American and Japanese) and their equipment for trading.
regards from Germany
