Yep, that was my reaction as well....nice bird but a bit pricey for 1/32 scale..that's 1/18 scale price territory. I realize being a modern jet that badboy is going to be big but I was expecting 30-35 range. Time will tell if that sells well over the long run at that price.

I preordered one, but I agree with the sentiments about the price  My father has a 1:32 F-4 kit he built well over 20 years ago hanging in his office. It is on a size scale with your average XD WWII fighter. Shorter wingspan, obviously, but similar in length. Since most XD planes tend to go for around the same price nowadays, it perhaps isn't that unreasonable... Assuming the planes get out to the brick-and-mortar retail stores, they will sell for cheaper, but not that much cheaper...

I decided that I am not going to worry about the cost and instead focus on my first, gut reaction:

SWEET!

My ceilings are filling up fast and these big, modern birds really soak up the real estate. I am hoping everyone expands into 1/32 making jets. Who knows, two years from now we may all be bitching about how the dogfight pack should have been the F-16 vs. MIG23 instead of the A-10! :D :D :D :D :D

I wonder if these 32nd scale F-4Js will make it to TRUs, and what the price will be there?

Where is my F-4 and Mig21 in 1/18th?

I agree with digger, price seems fine to me as well. The 1/32 Airacobra goes for what, $40...just a measley 10 bucks more for a Phantom!! I can handle it. Awesome jet!! :D

Same here. I've always been a big fan of the Jolly Rogers F-4's and F-14's so this is a must have. As always however, I think I will wait to hear what others have to say about it before buying mine.

The pictures of the F-4J look great. I hope we see future 32nd scale jets from BBI.

Great news!

This will be my first 1:32 plane. Who knows when a 1:18 Phantom will be produced, so I need this to hold me over. 8)

Nice touch with the exhaust stains.

I respectfully disagree with those who say the price is ok. The comparison of the P-39 put out by FOV for $40 is a bit of apples to oranges because it's mostly metal and more expensive to produce. Secondly if 21C can package TWO 1/32 scale WW2 birds in duel packs and sell them at Wal Mart for $30 and Badcat for $35 which roughly equates into one modern jet in the 1/32 scale in terms of materials then I deem the pricepoint set by BBI as too high. I still stick by my initial reaction to the price and that is it's a bit too steep for a 1/32 scale warbird. To those who wish to purchase the Phantom now and pay the price then that certainly is your right and I understand. I certainly mean no disrepsect to anyone, I just feel very strongly that BBI got the price wrong.

Well, I kind of see your point on the price of the new 32nd scale F-4. But don't forget this is one large model even in 32nd scale. I hope they sell a bunch of them, and that 21st Century takes note and finally makes their 18th scale F-4. :D

So a 1/18 BBI Bradley is $19.99. A Apache and Blackhawks are $29.99 at Target but 1/32 Phantom is $49.99 at BCA?? This is a hike to me. MTS or Aviatornut have a listing on this?

Size wise, I expected this to be b/w $29.99-39.99. It is much bigger than a 1/32 scale warbird, since this is a big jet. However, I suspect the price is due to badcat's pricing, no BBI's.

Nonetheless, I have HUGE hopes for this line, and I am very excited for the potential. I expect to see an A-10, F-14, Fulcrum and Flanker in this scale before 1/18.

A VF-84 F-14A Tomcat high viz would be a great counterpart to the Phantom.

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

I stick to my guns that $50 is ok. My comparison of the Airacobra to the Phantom isn't so far off regardless of materials as the Phantom has way more "processes" to go thru to turn out into what it is... I don't think some of you realize how really BIG this sucker is gonna be...Like I've always said I'm just glad to have the choices we have now as far as toy planes go. The 80's & 90's pretty much sucked if you were a toy plane collector such as myself...

It was, and still does. I've wanted a line like this since childhood. The closest thing to this to ever hit mass retail was Hasbro's Flying Fighters, which I believe were in 1/48 scale. If this line expands and has many more planes, it will outdo that line.
Question is, does this one have folding wings?

Mike if you are reading this, now that it is up for preorder, can you shed light on this toy? Information on it has been elusive.

Very awesome. I hope we can get some MIG-21s and MIG-17s to accompany this bird. It will make for some very awesome flying displays.
