1/32nd scale FW-190 question

Post by Sabrefan » Fri Jul 27, 2007 10:50 am

I saw a couple of 32nd scale 21st Century FW-190s last night at Walmart. I am thinking of going back and getting one. What do you guys think of this model? Any opinions would be great. :D

The Fw-190D is a great mold with the only real drawback being that the landing gear and doors are all molded together and slightly on the "skinny" side, but that is a characteristic of most 32x planes..
I recommend picking one up if you don't already have one, and I don't think you'll be disappointed..

One of the better 32x planes in my opinion 8) The Fw-190 lacks some of the finer details that have come to characterize the most recent 32x aircraft, but the aircraft is still one of the better in the series. It looks perfectly fine displayed next to the new P-51. It is very similar in construction to the 1:18 plane, but as that was a very decent mould, so too is the 32x plane

I just picked up 3 (of the 4) Fw-190D-9.
(Black 1, Blue 12 & Red 3)

I would agree that the biggest let down of these are the landing gear.
Like the Bf-109s landing gear, they just seemed to fragile and temperamental. I might just have to find a 3rd party kit so they look more realistic.

In my collection so far, the P-51B/C series has the best landing gear IMO.

The Fw-190s gear has always been a weak point, but I have to say that the Bf-109F/G has the best and most realistic gear out of all the 32x planes..

I think the Stuka's gear is very realistic, too

Yes the BF-109F/G has really nice landing gear. If you look in front of the main gear strut, you can see the brake line molded in.

I'll agree that the BF-109F/G landing gear looks the best, but I would have to disagree about them being the best. Out of the (3) BF-109s I own, only (1) will retract its gears flush with the wing.

Maybe it's me, but I don't care for the way they feel like they want to snap-off or the "tabs" that are supposed to hold the gear in place on either the BF-109 or FW-190.

I just piced up the FW-190a myself. Even having an inside track with 21C management I had no idea the plane was THIS GOOD!

I was stoked to see all the detial with the pitot tubes, and radio loop, and how the bombs attach to the hardpoints and then the hard points attach to the wings... and so on.

The moving rudder and landing flaps were also welcomed additions. The detial and amount of moving parts at such a low price point are very attractive! I am starting to REALLY like the 32x line personally.

I haven't been to Wal-Mart in a week. I feel like the Fw-190A/Fs could be sitting there, waiting, and maybe two hours before I get there some kid knocks the single remaining box off while clambering to get some other crap and steps all over it and breaks some of the pieces...

...Then forcing me to have to hunt...

...which forces that plane to sit there for years...

...and they still try to sell it, even though noone wants a broken plane...

...just like a green Stug that was trashed, thrashed, stripped of figures, most detail parts, and has been in my WM's 21st area for about a year now. It's dissapeared and reappeared, but jeez, you think anyone wants a destroyed Stug? Even a 2 year old could tell that it doesn't look right. =/ I now wish I had gotten to it before some stupid f*cking kids did. Ugh. Just like all the damn toys seem to get tossed on or in front of the 32x. =/

Oh and some good news for you XD guys, I bought a Pearl Harbor P-40 for full price at WM the other day! I welcomed it! Finally XD not on clearance! I was kind of sort of hoping it was, but it wasn't and I smiled, and I thought, maybe this is the start...

Perhaps?

Same here. And up on the top shelf, about twelve - count 'em, twelve - Italian dogfight packs. I don't think we have that many Italians around here.

I gotta get me that White 7 FW-190 with the pimpin' leopard-skin paintjob. Put on some chrome spoke rims, wide-ass whitewalls and a white landau canopy with gold accents, and I be rollin'. My ho's gonna know who's they mack daddy. 8)
Shizuki, I get the feeling you hope that 21C will buy the "Homies" line and perform some cross-pollination. This would be one of the signs of the Apocalypse you know. :(

Don't forget the Homie lowrider Kettenkrad, with pearlescent purple paint, spinners and neon lights, flaming exhaust, and custom stereo with nitrous oxide bottle in the back!

I laughed at the thought...
