Which twin engined plane would we like to see 21C produce?

Post by olifant » Fri Sep 22, 2006 7:45 pm

Dream with me gentlemen!

I am sure I have overlooked some very good aircraft but I don't think 21C will be producing a PE3, Short Stirling or P-61. I am trying to keep it in the realm of the possible.

While there's a number of those I'd like to see produced, a P-38 would seem most likely to me. However, a Mosquito or B-25 would be awesome. (Yes, I know there is a Corgi 1:32 scale Mosquito that is as good as anything 21c could produce, just that I don't feel like paying $120 plus shipping for one!)

Where is the C-47 choice? Are we talking only bombers and fighters?
Guess I'll have to pick the B-25 since you twist my arm! :D

I voted for Mosquito. It would be nice to see a Wellington, too...

The Henschel Hs 129???, The ground attack plane of the Luftwaffe.(Also served in North Africa and Russia) so it fit in with 21st C. themes.

although my true vote would go for a Ju52/3M, C47 and maybe a Gotha transport or glider.

Corey, you have a B 25 in 1:32 scale? Where'd you get it? Anyway I have the Mosquito and it is pretty well done. I like the Dornier Pfeil. because it is a fairly unusual plane. I wanted to make one for the cutom contest that Kamikaze was sponsoring but it never really got off the ground.

How bout a PB Y Catalina. That would be a cool plane. I hear the Corgi 1/72 has sold well.

Thanks Panzer, Corey, Todd,

I saw the Corgi Mosquito and I think it is a great model (like all Corgi 1/32 ones). But the armless Mk XVI is not my favorite version. I like better the NF II, F/FB VI, NF XII, NF XIII or NF XXX Mosquitoes which were used e. g. by Polish 305 and 307 Squadrons. Otherwise the 21CT model would be probably much cheaper  .

Anyone of those A/C would be nice...

But if I were the manufacturer, I would recognize that WWII German SELLS in greater numbers over anything else.

DML/Dragon isn't the Deutchland Model League for nothing.

Think of ALL the many re-paints - plus nightfighter variants - that can be made from either the ME110 or JU-88. Both planes served in all roles and on every front the Germans fought in.

Imagine how cool a 1/32nd or 1/18th JU-88 would be in the wellenmuster "wave" cammo as a North Sea raider?
Or an ME110 with the Wasp noseart?

That's the ticket - maximize the initial tooling investments and with minor paint and marking mods - bingo, lotsa reboxings.

Sure hope some manufacturer with a business sense reads these pages...

Greetings,

Well in regard to 1/32 scale models, it seems to be a scale with increasing interest in diecast, plastic model kits and these models from 21st, FOV and others. Eventually we may just see all these airplanes discussed in this thread or we may not, probably will depend on how the market develops, seems that aircraft are a hot sell right now, though that could die off at any time.

Yes, I do have a 1/32ish B-25. It might be closer to 1/35 though, still, close enough. I found an old Aurora kit in pieces and used pieces from the balsa Guillows version and a couple of plastic kits to build the plane back together. There is a thread on it with photos somewhere in the custom section should anyone want to see it that hasn't yet.

How big would a 1/32 scale Me 110 be in inches?

also to point out something overlooked..they made a multi-engined aircraft with the 262A So with that said, the 262B NachtJäger or Arado 234B Recon/Bomber are very possible since their size is about that of a conventional single engine prop aircraft. Plus they are German(Selling Point) and Early Jets(Another Selling Point), and very historical important aircraft. I'd put money on either one as the next multi-engined to come from 21st.

although we still have alot of single engined planes to come around.

waiting for 1/32 Bf 109F and G models, but they have been promised.

then you have stuff like the following....
1/32 Spitfire, Hurricane, Tempest, Typhoon and Gladiator(Malta/Norway/Home-Defense 1940)
1/32 Fw 190A or F
1/32 Ju 87D or G
1/32 Me 163B
1/32 P-51B/C
1/32 P-39
1/32 Russian Air Force models Ie LaGG-3, MiG, YaK, La-5, IL-2
1/32 CR-42 Falco
1/32 Kawaskaki Ki-61 Hein

Voted for the Mosquito, you gotta love an airplane made from plywood that can fly at over 400 mph. One that is not on your list that I would love to see is the Westland Whirlwind, a very cool looking British design that never quite lived up to expectations.

This is the first time I've heard this per aircraft. It's a common bit of propaganda in the armor field. Looking at WWII AC I'ld say we see an excessive number of US AC, not Luftwaffe. It also looks like the Brits get plenty of love too. THe Japanese definately get the short end of the stick. The Red Airforce gets ignored :? We have more 1/32 Italian AC than Soviet?

Some Luftwaffe AC get overdone, Stuka, FW-190D, ME-262. I'm thrilled to see new 109's coming, really hoping for FW-190A.

Hard

Post by rose4472g » Sun Oct 01, 2006 5:19 pm

I really found this one hard. I voted for the B-25, but you didn't give us a choise. I want a solid nose J model. Really surprising the P-38 got so little love. I just figured that is one plane 21st absolutely WILL do, so voting wasn't relevent. The HE, DO, and the A-20 were all "who cares". But ALL the rest were cool possibilities. For me the ME and the JU both really should be done. We'll see a Mossie and a P-38. Instead of the "Betty" how about a "Nick"?
