Revell Apollo

Post by cnq » Fri Jun 28, 2019 9:05 am

Hi guys,

Just finished the Revell 1/144 Apollo and 1/32 Command Service Module in time
for 50 years Anniversary Of The Apollo. I still have the 1/8 Astronaut and 1/48 Apollo Eagle module to build for my space collection :)

1/144 Apollo and 1/6 scale pilots for scale comparision

and 1/32 Apollo CSM with interiors

You did a beautiful job with that Revell Apollo CSM model, cnq, the paint work is perfect :D I also really like your setup with the Saturn V and Astronaut figures. Who made the 1/6 figures?

This is my little space display, with the Dragon 1/72 scale Saturn V (prebuilt version), earth rise photo, and an old 1/72 Space Shuttle model my dad built 30-something years ago:

I’ve also got this 1/48 scale model/toy of an Apollo CSM and Lunar Module that can dock, has separating modules, and which came with astronaut figures and other accessories. I ordered it from the Smithsonian Museum catalog 20 years ago and have never seen anything else like it:

(I know that hatch isn’t accurate, but again it’s a detailed toy!)

What about the gold exterior on the command module? I've not seen one photo of an Apollo CSM with that color; all I've seen are more silver.

Thanks tman. Your Apollo models are very nice. I like them all very much.
Oh the pilots are made by DID. They make many 1/6 figures...

The gold color on the CSM module is to simulate the Sun shinning on it in space.... :D

I’ve got no idea on the gold color. It’s interesting as the Revell model calls for the gold color and shows it on the box art. My model/toy even has it... But you’re right in that it should be the reflective silver color. My Dragon 1/72 scale Apollo CSM has the correct silver color depicted:

Very nice job on the LEM model, cnq! I like that the landing and ascent stages separate. Did the model include any sort of interior?

Here are a few pics of my display of 1/24 scale resin models of the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo spacecraft. These were made by a company called Toys and Models Corporation, though I think there are several other companies that make the same thing. While they are modeled in their post-re-entry look, the models do feature the opening hatch pieces and fully detailed interiors. The astronaut figures are the Dragon CanDo models and are scaled to the spacecraft models. The plaque is a replica of the one placed at the Apollo 11 landing site, although the real one was curved and mounted on the LEM’s landing strut.

very very nice Apollo collection tman. I like it.
I am waiting for the re-release kit from Dragon 1/72 "Lunar Approach" coming out this summer August/Sep to complete my very small Apollo collection.

Below are couple more pics of them all
