I think I can improve with rattle cans and punched out patterns on manila folders. I think I should have had the pattern closer to the surface, though

That looks great! I would be delighted with those results. Super job on the irregular patterns. Too many times the results look like polka dots.

well....obviously if it wasn't for Kevin and Burt at the local Hobby Town, it would still be a lovely shade of luftwaffe light blue all over; as it has been for several weeks. A postcard size piece of thin cardboard/stiff paper and a hole puncher is so simple, I would have never figured that out. It's a good confidence builder.

Yep, they both offer good advice and will try to answer your questions, even when you know they are almost always busy.

Good job, especially with a rattle-can! When you look at the mottles and paint jobs on real Luftwaffe planes in wartime conditions, the paint was hardly perfect and there were tons of irregularities and imperfections. The nice mottles we so often got in our 21c prebuilt planes were a tad inaccurate in that sense. Personally I prefer painting mottles with thinned paint and an airbrush, but you’ve got the right idea using the templates and rattle-can.

It looks very nice. As long as you're happy with the result that's all it's matter.

What manufacturer produced that kit? I take it it's not the old Revell model, I seem to remember that was sort of a clunky version typical of their early 1/32 releases....
