F5 Freedom Fighter

Post by jkinzel » Thu Aug 04, 2016 12:15 am

Back in the day I had an approx 1/48 model of an F5 Jet that was moulded in a "Chrome" plastic, very shiny. It did not survive the Great Firecracker War and now I would like to track one down but I can't remember the name of the Company that made it,I think there were some other jets made by the same company in the "Chrome" plastic. If any one knows the company name would appreciate it being posted.Thanx.

Thinking back model was bigger than 1/48 more 1/32,35.Also I'm remembering a T33 model as well although I didn't have one.

The Hawk kits also had a P-51, F-104 and others in their chrome plated line. All were 1/48. I too remember all my models as a kid seeming bigger than they appear now as an adult. After dealing with 1/18, 1/32 seems so small now. In the day they had the 1/18 feel and 1/48 was huge compared to 1/72. 8)

What makes the P-51 Mustang so special?

Is it this one?

It sounds like it,I remember mine had the Canadian Decals with the "New" Canadian Flag which was 1 reason I bought it.I guess if I can find 1 cheap enuff I'll take a chance that it's the one.I really need to find a picture of the parts to know for sure.Thanx for your interest.I'm still pretty sure though it was bigger than 1/48 but there has been a lot of Molsons under the bridge since I had it,LOL.

Megahobbies informs me they were made by "Hawk" and then by "Testors",Now I think back it was a "Testors" one I had, then later done by "Lindberg" but not in the Chrome finish. They was also quite a lot of other planes in the series,so now on to Evilbay to find one.
