Mig-21PF in 1/32 Scale

Post by tmanthegreat » Tue Apr 19, 2016 5:21 pm

My BBI 1/32 scale F-4 Phantoms needed an adversary and since BBI may have folded and the chances of getting another pre-built jet in the scale are slim to none, that meant I had to build one. I wound up purchasing a 1975-vintage Revell 1/32 scale Mig-21PF because the kit was cheap, seemed simple enough, and came with Russian and North Vietnamese markings. It was not a terribly difficult build, though the kit had its quirks. I decided to go with the Russian configuration of the Mig-21PF series. Action features of the model include an opening canopy and separating tail section to reveal a detailed jet engine. Initially I attempted to make the landing gear swappable so the plane could be displayed both gear-up or gear-down, however, this turned out to not be very stable, so I glued everything in the gear-down position.

The end result pictured below isn't perfect, but I am happy with the result - and have now have a Mig for my BBI F-4s to chase 8)
