Does anyone collect the Star Wars miniatures sets?

I have started collecting the capitol ships and fighters from the Star Wars X-wing miniatures game and Star Wars Armada. I was just wondering if anyone else on did too?

I do as well :D I recall first seeing them at my local Barnes and Noble bookstore, then my local Hobbytown USA store got them in for a couple dollars cheaper. They are practically little studio-quality models for the most part - basically expensive Micro Machines :P They have all the classic ships and then many from the (now defunct) expanded universe, so there's a lot of neat options to collect.

As they're expensive, I've been somewhat selective with my collection, getting all the main Rebel and Imperial starfighters, some of the mid-sized ships like the Millennium Falcon, and so far one of the larger ships, the Rebel Blockade Runner. I should probably get the starter set at some point so I could at least play the game if I wanted, but really, I'm collecting this series for the quality gaming pieces, not the game itself.

Tristan.
I really have no intentions on playing the game either, I just like the ships. I don't have any of these yet, but I am hoping for Tantive IV for Christmas and I bought the Imperial Star Destroyer from the Star Wars Armada series off Amazon earlier today.
I also have most of the Disney Star Wars diecast releases. My girlfriend bought me the variety set for Christmas last year and I think she bought me more this year.

Those are really cool!! Thanks for sharing! I wished these were a little more to scale but I guess they are "playable" size and I can live with that.

WOW!
Those are some good looking ships.
Beats the heck out of micro machines ships...

What is the average cost per ship?

I buy all mine from here.

The core set is the most expensive. Most cost between $13-35. To me not that bad. I feel it's worth it because they are rather detailed. Even painted engines.

Here is x-wing if you want to see them. They are all 1/270 scale I believe and are very well done.

Those are some excellent prices on the SW Miniatures vehicles on that site! And I thought my Hobby Town was good with its $12 average price for the starfighters. I'm tempted to get some more of these models now

The ships do look nice, but I got a bit burned on the PocketModels game that came and went a few years ago. Little iffy on picking up a new game since I only have time for the two PC games I play right now (that don't require finding friends available to come over either), but maybe later on once I finish my Master's program.

The Star destroyer is 8" long and 5" wide, there really isn't a scale to these that I know of.

thanks HW.....I see there are a few different star destroyers available....I gather the 8 inch one is the Imperial Class and that's the one that's in the original trilogy movies?

Yes, the Imperial is the trilogy ship.. Disney also makes a diecast Star Destroyer that is about the same size and also nicely detailed but doesn't come with a stand

Revell recently released a 1/4000 scale Imperial Star Destroyer model. It is a snap-tite kit designed for younger builders and has lights and sounds. Says they are available at Target, though I have never seen one there and found mine at my local Hobbytown USA store. It is a nice model and at 15.75" in length, much bigger than the Star Wars Armada ships. The underside is a bit broken up by "leg" sections that fold out to serve as a sort of stand and it could also use a better coat of paint being that it is moulded in a light gray with darker gray parts. The light & sound features are fun.
