A Hansa-Brandenburg W-29 Arrives

Post by Epap » Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:30 am

Up till now, I have avoided the new, plastic, Wings Of The Great War line as pictures of its early "hand painted" models revealed very sloppy work and poor quality, generally. I just made an exception, however, and bought the unusual subject Hansa-Brandenburg float plane fighter which just arrived. To my surprise, it was much better than I expected and the pilots almost look real---from a few feet away. There are some flaws, naturally, such as a solid white windscreen for the pilot not to see through, but this is a big ( 7.5 inch wingspan ) and surprisingly hefty model and one I can recommend. Here is a picture:Image

they are looking better but they still need to do something about the bracing wires. They are waaaaaay too thick still. Even $15 Amercoms are much better in that regard.

The beauty of the W29 however, is that it didn't have bracing wires.

Being an avid WWI collector I naturally looked into the line. The crude painting and assembly I could live with, but the price point of over $30 for these small models just doesn't strike a chord with me.

This model does show some improvement to the line and is one I may consider getting.

The best models to own are the ones YOU like. Don't let anyone's opinion change your mind.
