EPAP:

Do you know if this model is any good---compared to the BBI 1/18 Hartmann BF-109?

Is Easy Model releasing other 1/24 fighters?

I had one of the hartmanns, and it's very basic. I think I bought mine for $50 and they then went on clearance for like $25 each. They also made a P-51D in the same scale. I believe these are the built trumpeter models that were sold by Merit at one time.

HWORTH18:

I remember the 1/24 P-51----I almost bought one on clearance, but didn't because no pilot and no retractable landing gear.

Yep, and the canopy is 1 piece. I had to cut it open and make it workable. IMHO, these really aren't worth more than the $25 clearance price.

My local Hobby Town USA store has both the BF-109s currently. They also had them several years ago when these first came out, along with the P-51. I agree with Harry's assessment. I recently looked over the BF-109s for a while. They are not bad, but have no functionality other than just sitting there nicely. Plus, they're in a bit of an odd scale, small-scale-military-wise. 1:24 scale is pretty much G Scale in model railroading, so they would go well in a setup with that type of item, but not with our 1:32 or 1:18 items. The newest BBI "Hartman" BF-109 in 1:18 scale is far, far superior.
