1 32 Mitchell kit & a few other die-cast at low prices...

Post by c44 » Wed Apr 29, 2015 5:24 pm

If you have a little extra cash and quick reaction time, the soon-to-be departed Bad Cat Aviation has lowered most of it's clearance prices again, but I'd be quick (somebody feasting on the bones apparently nabbed a Merit 1/18 Dauntless that was previously languishing at a ho-hum price). Not much left, but a couple of interesting bargains...

It's about $105 with the shipping. I just blew my stash on a 1/32 Horten Ho229 or I'd get one to go with my glass nose Mitchell.

Has any one got any responses or actual product from this Bad Cat sale? I went ahead and ordered something from the website, but haven't received an email receipt or response, and of course they're not answering their phone.

NOOKER21:

I got a shipping confirmation for my order----but most of what I ordered was already sold out.

Very nice. I may pull the trigger on this Horten. Any chance of working on it this year ?

Right now I'd have to say no. mostly because I plan to build a base for it and I have to remodel my office first so I have someplace to put it. IF my schedule moves faster than expected, then maybe...

nooker21, could you post pictures of the kit itself, I'm curious on this "crystal version".

My B-25 kit from Bad Cat was not the clear version but the regular gray plastic (which is what I preferred). The box was retaped but everything inside was sealed and seemed to be present.

The "crystal" version was just a limited run of 300 kits that had all the parts to make the strafer OR glass nose version but the instructions and decals for the glass weren't included. Not sure why they even bothered with that since you could only build one plane anyway - what were you going to do with the extra nose pieces?

Maybe at box #301 someone said, "Hey, why are we doing this?"

Sorry, I ordered a Hobby Master Fw-190, not the B-25 Mitchell...

Au Revoir, The Cat has expired...

For anyone who cares, Bad Cat's site is down, presumably gone for good...
and to think at one point we were this close > < to seeing a 1/32 Starfighter...too bad it didn't work out for them---or us :(

Its the end of an era :(

Part of me is sad to see them go and part of me isn't. I'll hang on to my few BadCat exclusive models - and even a printed catalogue - in remembrance of what was once one of the leaders in our hobby and a quality retailer.
