1/72 Red Bull Air Race aircraft

i was watching a Red Bull air race on tv a few days ago and found it to be pretty fun.

I wondered if there were any 1/72 models of the planes and 'lo and behold, there are...or at least were. A company called Dickie Toys made a bunch of planes from the Red Bull series a few years ago.

Most places online call them 1/72 but by the quoted dimensions i think they're a bit bigger than that. But at just under 4 inches long and about a 4 1/2 inch wingspan, they're close enough for me and i doubt anyone else will be making planes like this any time soon.

there are actually 6 in the full set......2 are Red Bull owned liveries and the other 4 are liveries of other teams. Red Bull planes usually finish dead last in the races but their planes look the best.

The 1:100 set is not 1/100. They are cheaper quality models, probably around 1/72 but most likely a bit bigger. The markings are made up, not patterned after any real planes and as far as i can tell, so are the aircraft themselves. They sorta look like small racing/aerobatic planes but don't represent any real design. They're the kind of toys you'd find at Wallmart.

those don't ship outside of Europe, as with most of the amazon.de sellers. All the planes are around if you look hard enough but they're pretty expensive. Generally over 30 euro with shipping. These orginally retailed for about 8 euro, so they're not high quality models but pretty decent.

Maybe a friend could buy, and ship them, but I really like this (toys/models) I've always wanted an acrobatic plane, like an extra 300, 320, or Pitts in my collection, so I'm going to see if I can find the full 1/72 set somewhere

Speaking of the Pitts Special aerobatic plane, I have an old Matchbox version that's in 1:72 scale. Mine is in a red Virgin Atlantic scheme. Detail is very basic, but there is a pilot figure in the cockpit and other small details. I've had it for a little over 20 years.
