1/72nd scale US Fletcher" class destroyer - Yes, 1/72nd!

Post by binder001 » Fri Jul 25, 2014 10:19 am

see: http://www.modelboats.co.uk/forums/post ... p?th=97127

Ran across this on another board and tried to track down some info. Apparently these are on the market in Europe, but Hobbico isn't advertising them in the USA. The only price reference I could find mentioned about 999 Euros in Germany.

Still, it puts all the other pre-assembled model ships to shame.

Perfect for the guy with most of a dining table for display space - and yes, you will have half a dining table, because when this comes in the wife WILL leave!

Nice! I'd love to have one.

Looks like it's RC too.

here's a thread from RC Groups that may be worth following over time. Everyone is expecting the detailing on this model to be pretty bland but from the pics i can see it looks ok, about what you'd expect.

It would be less expensive if they sold a version without the engines and r/c gear.....i wonder if it will be offered.

At 5 feet 3 inches long, this will be an impressive model.

Here's a first hand review of it with lots of pics. You would think Hobbico in the US will be selling it unless it's some kind of european exclusive or something. Otherwise it would be very surprising if they didnt.

now available for purchase. If anyone is seriously going to buy one, make sure you get the right one. One is US Navy WWII and the other is German Navy post war.

This is the US Navy version:
