Small Scale WW2 Fighters, Attackers, Floaters, etc.

Post by Epap » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:43 am

If you are like me, you really want to get some representation of all of the fighters, attackers, etc. used by the WW2 combatants, not just the "usual subjects" put out by the likes of Corgi, HM, etc. in the 1:72nd scale. Sure, these include a Val, Kate, TBD, and a slowly growing list of others. Moreover, if you count the likes of IXO and some other part work operators, you also have a MS-406, Mig-3, MC-202, Ki-61, and quite a few more. Still, many more planes are waiting to be replicated in the 1:72nd scale, primarily representing the Italian, Soviet and Japanese air arms.

I make it a point to collect and, where needed, redo or modify, as many unusual subjects as I can find, even if they are in the 1:87, 1:100 or 1:120th scales and come from publisher-initiated lines like Hachette, GE Fabbri or DeAgostini. I thought I'd share some pictures of my growing brood of WW2 single engined unusual subjects: Here are some Italian birds:Image

Nice 8)

Like that Judy dive bomber with the Diamler Benz engine. Looks like a smaller scale. Hachette?

Will probably get at least the 1:144 Cafereo.

The Judy is, indeed, a 1:100th scale Hachette.

Very nice collection as usual Epap,

I do admire your painting skills as it elevates your models to a whole new level.

I'm kinda the same as you as I would like an example of every warbird represented in my collection and it seems broadening the scales and not limiting yourself to 1/144-1/48 scale (diecast or prebuilt plastic) is the only way to do that.

Thanks for the pictures and inspiration :D
