FOV 1/32 M60 Patton--Desert Storm?

Post by dragon53 » Sun Sep 16, 2012 10:31 am

Two questions about the FOV 1/32 M60 Patton--Desert Storm #80009 (tan paint scheme):

1. Does anyone know the unit the M60 model belongs to?
3. What are used copies of this model selling for now?

I haven't seen one of these for a while, but for an M60A1 in Desert Storm it would have to be the USMC. They were the last to take the "diesel dinosaurs" into combat. I don't have my books here, but one USMC tank battalion was re-equippped with M1A1s and the other still had M60A1s. The US Army had upgraded to all M1A1s (even the early arriving units with M1s were re-equipped before combat).

GUYS:

Thanks for the info. Someone else said the FOV M60 is with the USMC's 4th Tank Battalion.
I'm trying to determine if the FOV M60 was part of the 4th TB's Fox Company based at Camp Lejeune, but based on what I've read, the model may be one with Bravo Company based at Camp Pendleton.

Camp Lejeune M60s were in Desert Storm, but they were with the 2nd Tank Battalion.

I emailed someone at Camp Lejeune who posted a lot of photos of USMC M60s during Desert Storm, but I doubt I'm going to get a reply.

FOV's baseplate inscription states that the M-60 is with the 4th Marine Tank Division.

NHOGGARD12:

Thanks. The M60A1 I bought on ebay was was out of the box, so the base wasn't included.
After the model arrived, I saw on the chassis side, "3RD TK BN".
The 3rd Tank Battalion also saw combat in Desert Storm and D Company was from Camp Lejeune.

As for cost I scan ebay for them regularly and they range from $40 - $100 over the past 6 months or so. There is currently one with no box buy it now for $49.99 and a boxed version for $80. I've only seen a handful on ebay in the last couple months.

BIG_MIKE:

I paid $31 for mine which was out of box.
I was wondering if FOV was going to re-release it, but it appears FOV is concentrating on re-releasing World War II tanks, so I went ahead and got it. I already have the M60A1 in woodland paint scheme.
