1/32 Model Display at the Museum

Post by Axis Nightmare » Mon May 28, 2012 5:06 pm

Just in time to compliment the FW-190 at the Tri-State Warbird Museum being up on its gear, I finally finished a display that has been waiting for the showcase to be available using 21st Century Fw-190A-F models in 1/32 scale. I added a BF-109G to show the "stablemate" of the 190 and a JU-87 Stuka to highlight the plane the 190F was meant to replace in the ground attack role. The full size FW-190 is pictured in the "Off Topic" Forum.

There was much modification done and added detail on some of the 190s. The winter version has the gear covers cut off like the actual one in photos. I also added a bulged hood from a 190D as the actual example had. The "historically correct" tail markings were added to each plane and exhaust smears were added to the two 190A-8s. The three F models already had them.

Some vehicles, a few figures and ground equipment was added to liven up the display including an 88mm Flak gun. The case is mirrored back and sides so you can see all the models from all angles.

Looks very nice! The Stuka, FW-190, and Bf-109 were some of the nicest 32x pieces made (as were the Opel trucks) so its great to see them making such fine museum display pieces.

Then I realized that I have every one of those planes and vehicles in the picture, save for the 88mm gun, assuming that your's is the 21c version - I have the two FOV ones.

Thank you!

The 88mm flak gun is 21st Century. The Schwimwagen is FOV. The 190A-F was probably the best and most complete, too. :)

Kind of "ironic" that 21 Century 1/32 models are being used at an aviation museum. The "Walmart brand" has the only 1/32 FW 190 done by a diecast manufacturer, and is good enough for a museum to use.

The FW 190 was one of the best molds done in 1/32 by 21 Century, and one of my favourites.

BTW, a great looking display, Axis Nightmare, and a good idea to display the 109, and Stukas with it, to give extra perspective.

Thanks for this positive post, and a big thumbs up from me.

Very nice display. I agree with the "historically accurate" tail markings. If it happened in history it should be seen. We cannot hide from history.

I think it's great for collectors to be able to display their collections as you have. Hopefully it will entice others to start collecting and manufacturers to start rolling out new product.
