So from what I understand is that a Chinese manufacturer has secured the rights to put another brand on the box and produce these or they won't get produced?

Sounds like some sort of blackmail situation, or what they call "business."

Where have we seen this kind of thing before with a manufacturer taking control of product?

That sounds like WingScale is getting "the Business, up the rear".

A real shame, as the owner seemed enthusiastic about the project, and now seems to be left out in the cold.

Apparently this same manufacturer will be doing the B-17 and the Meteor.

I wonder if this discourages them from proceeding with the P-61 and B-26?

I hope they are duly compensated and have some control over the quality of these models. That seems to be a big issue the WingScale guys are worried about.

I dont know if thats gonna happen
I know the B-25 and B-17 were basically ready to ship but I dont think the P-61 was anything more than a mockup.
I am sorry to head Wingscale got screwed but that happens more often than not in China ...... hell to them its just buisness

I wonder who was the 3rd party

Guess we shall find out when they are released.

The best course of action to deal with these pirates, is to not even buy their kits....
Then these Chinese bandits will have to go back to blow molding cooking ware.
Don't support them...
They did the same thing to Tom Harrison of Tom's Models. I was the one who blew the whistle on them with the USS Arizona model they stole from Tom.
What a bunch of crooks...

Good news
http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index ... opic=35296

Hopefully he wont get screwed again and can come out with some models

Dear all,

In the last few months I have seen a lot of questions on the forums, regarding the future of Wingscale and its models.
For me these months were a road full of surprises, disappointments, but also many highlights.

Your support on the forums was a big support, for which I truly thank you all!
Ideas can be taken away........but a dream cannot and will forever stay!

Unfortunately my past situation made it not a wise decision, to respond on all the discussions and questions. I hope you all will forgive me for that.
That is until now!
I would like to inform you about the situation of Wingscale.

First of all the name Wingscale and mother company have been deleted and both will NOT be used anymore.
Last week I finalized the definite sale of my plastic injection molding company.
The new business model with new suppliers I needed to sort out has been finalized and accomplished already as well.
A new company has been established with a new brand: WINGXL.

From August 1st, I will be focusing 100% on WINGXL!
And our WINGXL team is glad to be back!

WINGXL will proceed with the following kits in 1/32 scale:
• North American B-25 C/D Mitchell
• Douglas A-26 Invader
• Douglas A-20 Havoc
• Martin B-26 Marauder
• Northrop P-61 Black Widow
• Lockheed Hudson
• Bristol Beaufighter
• De Havilland Mosquito

Please note these are listed in random order and not according release dates.
Besides the B-25, the specific versions of the other kits are not mentioned.
Also the pictures on our website are chosen in general, we haven’t yet revealed which versions are to come or the timeframe for these releases. I think everybody will understand why.

In the coming few months, when appropriate, I will keep you all informed about progress of WINGXL and its kits.

Each kit will be produced in a limited quantity of 10.000.
Depending on how many major different versions are possible (general abt. 2-3), minimal every 2-3 years constructional revised versions will be released, also in limited quantities.

WINGXL kits will NOT appear re-boxed by other manufacturers later on.
We will respect the true limited character of above mentioned kits.

Which retailers will remain in the WINGXL structure, will be decided oncoming time.
To prevent unnecessary workload for the retailers, for now just communicate directly with WINGXL please.

Which price level we can offer, will be decided at the appropriate time too.
Regarding the price level we off course will do our best to maintain the previous one.

You can ensure a place on the list for above mentioned items.
Please sent an email to: [email protected]
Then you will receive a standard autoreply that your interest of maybe ordering one later has been received and you will have been put on the list.

For other communication please use: [email protected]

Hoping to have informed you all herewith, I remain,

Martin Oude Vrielink
WINGXL

I dont care who makes it but I want a 1/32 B-25 and B-17

This is good news. A few more aircraft added to the list. The B-25 C/D is different than the J they were going to offer. I hope we can get a B model Doolitle Raider in there or some kind of conversion kit.

I wonder what's happening with the B-17, and who's putting it out did anyone find out?
That's the one I really wanted more than the others.
I hope they decide to continue with a few more 4 engine bombers.

Good to hear.

Not sure about the financial and legal issues, and how they have been resolved, but looks like he is back on track to getting these kits made. :D

Although not for me, I wish him luck and success.

Im assuming the later models of the B-25 will be released by whoever "aquired" the molds from WingScale and the B-17 from what I understand was in its final stage and will also be released by whoever WS initially was dealing with.

You know I hate to say it, but I can't pass on the 1:32 B-17. I'm not happy with this situation the manufacturer put on Wingscale, but I just can't pass up a 1:32 Flying Fortress.

The guys at Wingscale recommended not boycotting these when they come out so at least that helps my conscience a little.

I can however pass on the Mitchell knowing an earlier version which I wanted anyways will be coming out eventually by WingXL.
XL must stand for Xtra Large no?

BTW thanks for the updates usmcchet9296.

On a semi-related note, I see on ebay that Hobbyboss has released the 2-seater version of the Sturmovik in 1/32 to go along with the two single-seat versions already out. Although it doesn't help the pre-built collectors, it gives hope that 1/32 is holding its own in terms of new subjects.

Thought I'd dig up this old thread since the announcement of HK Models and their upcoming release of Wingscale's B-25 and later the B-17.

Martin (of Wingscale- WingXL) comments on the announcement recently at Largescale planes:

Hello all,

Let me comment on this interesting subject a bit too.

I agree with one of the persons above, that the new models should be judged for what will be eventually in the box and not unimportantly.....what you have to pay for it.
I know there is a history, but that is the past and we all should move on, which I personally already did.
Busy already with establishing the new brand WingXL, which is still in progress.

So let we just have fun......talk about the models....the new releases from every other manufacturers.......and enjoy our hobby is alive and kicking.

Another new manufacturer is only and always to the benefit of you ...... the plastic modellers.
Now kits appear in 1/32 we all would not have thought possible a few years ago.
It increases our choices.
Everybody can choose freely acc. their own criteria, relevances and priorities.
It pushes every manufacturer to increase the standards at any time.
Called ......progress !!!
I would say.....GREAT !!!!!

I must say I have respect that they showing some "balls" by releasing the 1/32 4-engined big ones !
I know many other manufacturers had these subjects on the tables and always pushes them of the tables because they are regarded as "risky".
In that respect for not doing that.....I like these guys !!!!!

I honestly wish them good luck.
Because they will really need it.

I am curious with what they will come up after these items.
Then a manufacturer shows if it has originality, creativity, eye for relevant details and the overall quality to succeed in a longterm.
That applies to every manufacturer, also my oncoming WingXL.

Yes.....WingXL will release 2 kits too ........ THIS YEAR.
One of them will be the 1/32 B-25C/D Mitchell.
The construction and level of detail of our B-25C/D is different and has been improved.

More news about that later.
Sorry, you have to have a bit more patience with that yet.

In the meantime.....happy and safe plastic modelling !!!

Greetings,

Martin

a really nice blog site for scale modeling made a great comment (quote from a TV show) regarding this story between WXL and H-K.
