More Algo on the way! (or old stock?)

Post by Yoxford » Wed Mar 16, 2011 9:32 am

The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

That's old stock, very old stock. Original 21c 32x old stock. The price is a bit high for what it was, but not bad for now, all things considered.

Yep, these are a few of 21st's first 1/32 releases. I remember seeing them at Toys R Us years ago.
Interesting that they are also "In-stock" sounds like 21st/Allgo is clearing some stuff they had sitting around.

These are not Old Stock, but they are re-issues. 21st produced both of these liveries previously before they went tits-up...

AMERICAN_GRENADIER, I didn't see your other post (or know where it is) but was there any mention of 1/32 armor from ALGO?

My understanding is that these are new re-issues. More planes and new paints to follow is what I have been told. I think new subjects could come on next year.

That's encouraging and now the "Shangri La" officially on the Allgo site. 8)

I do wish they would do some new paints of existing molds though soon. That particular P-51 is a good choice to start because of it being hard to get the last time, but give or take a few rare and hard to find ones many collectors already have most of them.
Whereas if they would for instance offer the "Taylor and Welch" and or a Russian Ace version of 1:32 P-40 B/C they could get some sure sales to collectors who already have most of the other planes and also sales to new customers who are entering the hobby. It's a win win with less investment than making a new mold.
Same goes with the P-51D and others of course. Setting up a new paint run costs money, but surely the sales to old and new collectors alike will offset it.

This would be a better choice than offering the FW-190 "Red 19" It's a great mold but there is a glut of them on the secondary market. While the "Shangri La" is a winner, the "Red 19" will compete with a 21stC plane that's easy to find even now, and available at equal to or a better price than the suggested retail of the future Allgo release.

Just eager for something new to buy, but still I'm thankful Allgo is doing something.

To see Allgo release the "19" again reminds me of a football analogy.

Your down by 6 with time for 1 more play from the 50 yardline. The crowd goes wild with anticipation. The QB brings them to the line and barks out signals as his slotback goes in motion. All eyes fixated on the upcoming mighty heave towards glory. The QB takes the snap over the deafening roar of the crowd. He drops back one step, two steps, surely set to launch towards the heavens. Tick-toc the clock winds. The crowd in a frenzy with the upcoming galactic launch of the oblong orb towards victory. The QB stops, plants, and cocks the mighty arm of imortality, and hands to the fullback up the middle for no gain, Tic-toc the game is over. A serenic hush fills the crowd as they all stare into oblivion with the blank and ghostly look of "what the heck was that?"
