A new 32x Ebay record?

Post by hworth18 » Sat Sep 04, 2010 10:47 am

Scored today and got some high rollers bidding on my last "Yellow 11".. It was an understatement to say I was just a little surprised when the bids went from $89 to 3x that! :D

WOW, simply amazing... Good for you Harry. Well, I guess that means I'm gonna have to put my MIB example on the auction block, like today.... Be interesting to see how it does, I'll keep you guys posted, but with my luck it'll probably top out at 29.99....LOL :?

This is one of my original Walmart purchases for $14.99 a few years ago.

Well, I hope the chump that bought your plane doesn't have a parent or wife to explain things to.

HWORTH18:

Good lord, that's a huge profit. Do you know why everyone went nuts over your USFW-190?

I wonder what a brand new, in-box FW-190 would have sold for.

Don't know, but to me, this scheme represents a more "standard" or more iconic scheme over the other releases. I certainly think it is the best looking of the A models that 21st released. I believe the last one of this scheme also sold for a high dollar amount and I guess it is worth it to someone if they wanted to complete their collection with an example in excellent condition.

Fantastic price Harry. :D

As you say, not a done deal until you get paid.

You must have been shocked when you say the winning bid.

I recall that another one of these sold for around $150 a while back. It was brought up on this forum.

Not sure why this particular scheme seems to do this. As Harry said, it is an iconic scheme, and the best looking FW190A IMO as well.

You must still be smiling Harry.

You can bet this will be packed VERY well, and insured just to be safe.
I am very happy if just because now I can pay for my upcoming purchases which will include the new Memphis Belle B-17..

Yes, I always pack things as good as possible, but this will be a little different this time.

BTW, I emailed the winner and his return email to me was that he had been trying to get this plane for a long time and had always been outbid, he wasn't going to be outbid this time.

He also noted it was quite an investment for me with a return better than gold... :D I just hope he enjoys this bird as much as I did. :)

Amazing. Whoda thunk?

I think we were discussing that same type of 190 just a month ago. Wonder if he was fighting for that one too, hence the prices?

Like the title of the thread, I think this one breaks the record for 32X.

Congrats Harry, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Where do these people come from, Wall Street? :?

Thanks,
Maybe he is a highroller, because the guy is from Las Vegas.. I am just glad it finally happened to me for once as I always seem to be giving this stuff away on Ebay and always dreamed of the "bidding war" other people had experienced. :D

HWORTH18:

Do you already have the first Corgi Memphis Belle?
I already have the first Memphis Belle and am thinking of getting the second version---but I hate to spend money "twice". However, the replies to my thread on the other message board make me think the second version might be worth the cost.

I have had the first issue about 3 times. I sold two and gave the other to my little brother a few years back. So no, I don't have one now but I look forward to getting the new realease as soon at it hits my local retailer.

LMAO.. No, I wished... I think I sold both for about $150-$175 which was their typical going rate at the time.
