How do you like to display your aircraft, with or without a stand? Hung from the ceiling?

I prefer a mixture. I have about half of my A/C on their gear while the other half is "in-flight". It gives me more room to put more planes in my display if I have them at different levels.

Wow, good point. I hadn't considered that. And display space is going to be at a premium for me.

I've got a mixture:

Some are sitting on their gear on a display shelf. Others I have actually hung on the wall.

Wall hanging turned out to be a highly efficient way of both saving shelf and ceiling display space as well as storing the planes in a manner that doesn't potentially damage them. Arranged neatly, they look good.

I agree, plus some like MRC just look weird on stands.

but it also comes to the quality of the gear and stand..like Dragon's Fockes have fiddly gear, so they get stands..as do the Dragon's 109Gs, as you can stand those decked out with droptank(can't do that with the 190s) and the R6 package 2cm cannon underwing gunpods.

Corgi's Ju88a-5(5./KG30) is on it's gear, as I think the 88 looks good on it's legs, but the Heinkel is on a stand to display it's bomb bay doors and the vertical drop system the heinkel used.

Almost all of mine are displayed "in flight" on stands.

Just like the sleeker look of them gear up.The only exception are the few models that are gear down only{Gaincorp Su 27's,and variants}

Although,I agree that having a mix of both, maximizes your display space.

It's kind of a personal preference thing. No right answer.

Most of my 18th AC lay flat on painted pegboard on the walls. My seven f-86/migs are on wheels on a shelf near the floor. Some corsairs, spits, and p-40 hang one under the other on curtain thread- no more than three this way, though

here are a portion of them

That is very interesting. I had never thought of something like that.

I've rearranged them so many times, had them all hanging, even built 4 sided stands like 21st used to use in toy expos or whatever- now I just pass by them, hell, I don't even dust them anymore- I'm probably not the only one. .

I guess since this is under the 32nd thread, I will post a shot of those later today. I went off in a retentive way with those, too.

with a hook on either side, the 32nd stuff will lay flat against the pegboard just like the 18th ones

Awesome, just...awesome. It's hard to make out but it looks like they are suspended from curtain or large dowel rods? What are they suspended with?

the first set of wood rods came from an unused rake or two, another group was a set of unused baseboard strips- whatever the term for those is- they are hung using upholstery thread- I don't believe that stuff will ever break.
I've just run some 3" screws through the rods into the pegboard wood framing- the rods will swivel to either side too, but I don't do that often, the screw will probably back out over time.

I think the reference and 18th headers contain a generous amount of pics of us showing off our stuff- it can't be helped
