Post by supersonicfifi » Mon Oct 26, 2009 8:01 am

viewtopic.php?t=18711&start=0&postdays= ... highlight=

During a recent trip to TOKYO i've been able to see some incredible models (i suspect from HPH ) the 1/32 lineup was impressive but i was not allowed to take picture inside the shop :

so enjoy their website : http://wing-club.co.jp/desktop.html

for exemple here is a fantastic F 101 voodo available either in 1/32 or 1/48 : http://wing-club.co.jp/news_details.php ... 1005202137

i am still speechless !

Pretty cool man, how was Japan?

Post by c44 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 4:43 pm

I gather from the discussion our 1/18 neighbors are having that these prices are likewise way outta my class, but how do those prices translate to US dollars...?

it was fun

Post by supersonicfifi » Mon Oct 26, 2009 4:49 pm

It was fun ! completly different country with a lot of etiquette rules !

it's hard to do business here for the first time ... i've got a lot to learn !

concerning our hobby it was fantastic i've been to small shop selling diecast aircraft (the name of the shop is TOP GUN in downtown tokyo) and i bought a rare GAINCORP su 47 for 40 US $ ! But the most intersting part was when i went to buy it : the nice guy of this shop (not a single english word spoken here) took WHITE GLOVES and opened the box to show me the model ! the model was displayed for me to inspect before my purchase ! nice service !

I love their love of details : EVRYTHING is so well planned ... that sometimes when it's not planned it imply some strange reactions

Evrybody should go to JAPAN ! amazing cultural shock !

My translator was very nice and explained me a lot of things to behave correctly. :)

A Godzilla sized "Ouch!"
But thanx for the pix, I look at them like I used to look at the Sears Wish Book catalog when I was a kid (that was probably way before your time)... :)

the size of your "ouch" can't equal mine when i discovered the shop ! it was like being in a dreamland of models (the prices were not displayed !!!!) so i guess it's a good indicator of expensive stuff.

The models from 1/72 to 1/24 are "almost" reachable ... but 1/18 are another league just like the big boats (6 feet for the biggest aircraft carrier i guess in 1/144 ...) the price was around 800 000 yens = 6 or 7000 euros ! = 7 or 8000 us dollars !!!!!!

When i say "almost" it's a big word : because 1200 + us $ is still a little bit hard

127 000 yens = 1000 euros = 1400 us $

for exemple this 1/48 buccaneer ( i like this model with detailled cockpit) is 58 000 y = 457 euros = 640 us $

yyiiikkkkkkkkkkkkkk !
