21st 1/32 stuff at Target?

Post by FieroDude » Sat Jul 19, 2008 10:51 am

A friend of mine who is a 1/32 collector just called me to see if I had a 1/18 Sherman already (he had seen the Bravo Team one at Target), but mentioned that he has also seen a line of 1/32 plastic aircraft labeled "4-Star". He checked around the box for the manufacturer and found it was 21st Century. He said it was disppointing because there was nothing new, just P-51's and Bf-109's, but still an interesting development. I didn't ask price, because I don't collect 1/32, but may make a run down to South Bend today out of sheer curiousity.

If there is already a post on this, please disregard--I didn't see one, but I also didn't dig very deep.

No,
I think you are the first...
I haven't been to Target in a while, so this just may be an excuse to go.

Interesting development... I'm not too wild about it as what I don't need are more shelves filled with 1:32 Bf-109s. Most of my Targets have a difficult enough time selling the 1:32 and 1:18 FOV items, so to add more to the mix doesn't seem like a good idea.

Still, interesting find :D

Just got back from Target and they didn't have anything there, but they did have two empty spaces for 1/32 airplanes/vehicles @ $17.99.
It looks like Target has clearanced off its FOV 1/32 vehicles and are only carrying the 1/72 planes/tanks.

If these really are 32x, it is great to have another option.

Targets here reduce the FOV 1/32 P-51s to $14.98, maybe they are making room for 21st C

I saw two of these in somebody's hands today. He let me look at them. I didn't see the 109, but he had a Mustang-D and a FW-190.
What really got me excited was that these were in color schemes I've never seen before.
The Mustang had a black & yellow Checkerboard tail, and the 190 was a Euro Theater grey with a black 2 on it. No red stripe on the fuselage, so it's completely different from "Yellow 11" and "Red 19"

The boxes are a departure from the usual green camo-type, with grey, black, and red accents.

I really do think that they were Target Exclusives.

I have the DCPI number if anybody wants to check the stockrooms on the little red price checker station boxes.

It's: 087-06-2055

I can't wait to get my hands on these, and I'm excited somebody else besides TRU and Walmart is giving 21st a shot.

It bodes well for this line, especially when FOV/BBI who already are in Target have to put their 1/32 aircraft line in there to compete. Maybe we will see the Dauntless, Wildcat, and Phantom for better prices than the $39-$49 the online places are charging.

Sounds like Double Nuthin might have come out via Target instead of Walmart.. Very interesting.. :)

If Target is 21st Century's new dealer and a greater source of income for 21st, perhaps this means a 'go' for the 1/18 Steve Ritchie F-4D since one theory for last year's delay/cancellation of the F-4D was Wal-Mart dropping 21st's 1/18 models.

Even better developments! I will have to go check my targets soon if it means a new P-51 scheme is to be had. There's still a bunch of the FOV stuff left the last time I checked, but there are resets going on at the moment. If we are getting new paintschemes, then this is good. I don't want a bunch of Black 10 Bf-109s anymore...

Very interesting news. Maybe Target will handle distribution better than WM. I'd be giddy with joy if I went into Target and came out with Double Nuthin and a Spitfire.

I haven't been to the Targ since they quit taking the $5 off coupon. Somehow paying full price has lost its appeal. :P

I will gladly trade 1/32 FOV AC for 1/32 21C! I think I will have to take a run tonight. In a related note, Target.com has had 1/32 21C for a while now. I have never bought any as they were all old releases though.

Thanks for the intel! :D

Oh god... I'm glad I'm going to sleep "early" tonight. (Yes, 3 AM is early for me in summer.)

I have two Targets I'm going to hit. This really got my blood going. I've kind of been bored with the same stuff in two different stores, stocked full with two different planes. =/

I've been working on my patch and miltary uniform collection lately to bide the time. I'm praying hard that this is true. $17.99 is good, not Wal-Mart but cheaper than TRU. I also like Targets better than f**k damn WM. The only good reason anymore (now that they overstocked on the same planes) to go in is to goof off and kill time. I go in Target and noone is hardly in the toy aisle, and it's easier on the eyes, in more than enough ways.

I'll let you guys know if I find anything, and I've got a camera in my phone so I can snap a picture if I do. :D

Good luck guys, I feel Target will prove to out-do WM in every way.

We had some pretty heavy storms rolling through here yesterday so I opted to delay the South Bend trip. I am leaving here shortly, actually.

But I went to the Benton Harbor Target last night to find... nothing. As in based on the way the aisle looked, you'd think Target was getting out of the toy business. A couple camo 1/18 shermans, 2-3 bravo team figures, a couple cobra commander figures, 2 lonely 1/72 FOV Zeros... The only thing I saw that was remotely new looking were a couple different FOV 1/32 figure packs for $10, but in bubble style packs (one big rounded bubble with inner trays, sort of like the big 1/72 packages) instead of the old boxed ones.

Sounds exactly like the 2 Targets in my AO. There was some kind of dead beetle on the shelf by the die cast cars though. Maybe that counts as new armor?

Score!!!!!!

Post by hworth18 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 10:55 am

Score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Went to 3 Targets and the farthest one away had 2 Double Nuthin P-51's and 2 Black 2 Fw-190F8s.
They also had a new repaint of a Marder III and new 1/32 playsets, I didn't look too close, but one had a two tone (light green/dark green) Sherman.

Damn thats a nice looking Mustang! I'm going out for some recon after I type this. I doubt I'll find anything, but stranger things have happened. Both planes look awesome :D

Nice! I like "Black 2" more than the "Red 9" F-8.
That Mustang is nice as well.
I was just at my Target yesterday, but I was looking for the typical green boxes.
The only thing they had there were FOV P-51s and a Spitfire on clearance for $21.

$17.99 at Target...? That's better than $21.99 @ TRU

I might have to check out the Target by work tomorrow at lunch.
Thanks for the heads up!

Yes, I almost overlooked these, but the Marder caught my eye, then started looking around for the rest. I will hit another Target where I saw the empty shelves and see if they have restocked.

Checked four friggin Targets. Lots of restocks going on and space being cleared, but mostly for the upcoming Star Wars stuff and GI Joe. Still lots of FOV products and no sign of the 21c stuff. Not even tags. Guess I'll start checking next week after the big SW restock as perhaps some of this new stuff will get out by then.
