NEW 1/32 IDEAS!!? Anyone?

Post by aktiger » Tue Apr 29, 2008 3:57 pm

I have had this idea for a while, and it may be that it has already been done, but I am starting this thread in order to give us, as enthusiasts, a creative outlet.

What are your ideas? What would you like to see in 1/32? From repaints to new tooling?

Please keep it on topic and avoid debates or negative comments on someone else's idea. This also not a poll. Feel free to add pics or sites. Hopefully someone from one of our manufacturers will take note and use some of the ideas from this thread!

Sit back and enjoy the thread.

I will start it off:
In the same vein as the Dogfight packs from 21st C, how about wigman or squadron packs where you have a famous fighter pilot and his wingman, or one of his wingmen (as they changed often), or one of his squadron mates. Just think, the 352nd 487th's Meyer's "Petie 2nd" with Sear's "The Sheepherder" or the 357th FG, 363rd FS's Yeager's "Glamorous Glenn" with Anderson's "Old Crow" or II./JG 52's Barkhorn with Hartmann.

Next.....

Well... I am looking for anything Russian. Be it soldiers, tanks, or planes I would welcome any new Soviet additions with welcome arms. I'd also like some more trucks (maybe an American Red Ball Express) or smaller vehicles like a bren gun carrier.

Hi AK,
Anytime you make an item a deluxe set (two vehicles in one package) it makes it a harder sell for a retailer. Instead of trying to push out a $40 item, now you're asking him to push it out at $80. It would be much easier to simply offer the two planes in two separate boxes with perhaps a back story for each plane (and his wingman) on the back of the box so the consumer can decide if they want to pick up both planes or just one.

Frankly, the manufacturers havent begun to scratch the 1:32 scale surface. There's tons of subjects still available, from Russian tanks to Japanese caisons, and just as many artillery pieces, trucks, haulers, etc. that could keep the average collector busy for quite some time. The trouble is convincing a manufacturer to make them within a weakening economic climate, when there's no way of knowing for certain if they'll sell beyond what a few forum members say.

I'll second that, and a T-34 would be a fine place to start considering it was the most produced tank of the war. 8)

Trucks. Armies live on their trucks. Miles long snakes of them to support even the smallest armor advance. And I have one. A WWII German one at that. I take more liberties than most when it comes to my forces, but even I have a hard time using WWII German trucks to support a platoon of M1's. I realize WWII is a bigger market than modern, but for the love of pete, can we get a duece an' a half already? I'll wait on the five and seven ton trucks I so desperately need, if I have to. But we need, well, I'd like to say "more", but that would imply that we have some already... trucks.

Other than that, I'd love to see more cold war and modern. Leopard 2A6, a T-72 that isn't all beat to $#!t, T-55, Chieftain, more M113's and variants... And of course planes and helicopters in 1:32. AH-1 and UH-1 come to mind, as well as the OH-6. All the American "teen" jets and Migs in the 20's. Sukhois as well. And a Hind. The list goes on...

But first, trucks!

So True just look at the Big companies of the 1/35 world, then factor in all the little guys and the amount of material is almost endless.

Yes, but these are just repaints of the same model, nothing new. How about T-34/76 or any one of about a dozen different variants that would be possible with this tank.

Let's be creative here. Instead of a wish list, lets be specific. What color scheme do you want on that T-34? Who's Me 110 do you want represented or what color scheme would you like to see? Let's see some profiles!! Or better yet, the color scheme, the unit or group, or the individual during a significant event during the war! Kind of like "The Man, The Moment , The Machine".

An example:
Aldin Rigby's "Jerry and Eleen" on Jan. 1 1945 during Operation Boddenplatte with the "Blue Nose Bastards of Bodney", the 352nd.

Great site and story from his personal memoirs:http://352ndfg.com/Y-29/Rigby.htm

See, now I'm just the opposite. I want pieces as ambiguous as they can be. I don't want the piece tied to any particular man or moment. I want it as more of a "blank" for me to use/model however I see fit. And then, next month, another way. If I want them customized, I'll do it myself, thank you. Even numbered markings get to be a little much when you find yourself with a platoon of all the same vehicle, with the same number. Maybe pieces could be made relatively blank, but come with decals to allow the owner to mark them as he/she/it sees fit. That way, everybody can be happy.

I would love some extremely Plain Jane T-34/41 models in Russian OD green. I'll buy an entire case and fix 'em up with cyrillic tank slogan. Then they'll break themselves against my Panzer Corp... :D

How about post WWII Jets. A-7 Corsair, SEPECAT Jaguar, A-10, Mirage, F-5, All the Teen Jets as well not to mention some Migs. It would be cool to see the F-105, F-100 series as well as the F-106 and other pertinent jets.

my choices...

Post by binder001 » Sun May 04, 2008 6:31 pm

1) If FoV keeps delaying their CCKW truck, then I would like 21C to do a CCKW - just to be different they can do the tactical cab instead of the earlier hard cab that FoV announced.

2) 21C once announced a Dodge 1.5 ton 6X6 for 32X. They produced it and the "cousin" 3/4 ton 4X4 in 1:18, how about releasing them in 1/32nd. The Command Car would be nice too.

3) An M4 18-ton High Speed Tractor to pull our US big guns. It would go nice with the new gun crews coming out.

4) An M4A3E8. This would give us a 76mm turret and late Sherman hull for those of us who like to convert our vehicles.

5) an M8 75mm Howitzer motor carriage - on a Stuart hull.

Skip the airplanes, tanks, trucks, and troops, preferably American, some British.
