Dragon 1/35 Tiger

Post by Tuttle » Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:01 am

Hi everybody,

I recently accquired the Initial production Dragon Tiger I & I'm amazed at the detail. Maybe I'm just easily impressed, but what do you modelers out there think of it?

Thanks

I stopped building models befor the DML/Dragon Tiger I's were released. My father still builds models, and told me it was the best Tiger kit he ever built. That was the first release with all the interior detail. I don't know if the version you refer to has the interior detail.

I've been thinking about getting one myself, but I have a few questions that maybe you could answer.
1)What hatches open
2) Do the treads roll
3) Is there a mg-42 mounted on top?
Thanks

how much was the 1/35 from Dragon?

Isn't Tamiya doing something similar with pre-painted pre assembled AFVs?

Hi,

I paid around $65 at the time ... it was a pre-order special. I noticed that the price has increased a bit since then. I have Tiger #142 of sPzAbt 501. The historical detail is correct for that unit. It's unique field modifications include lowered headlights (including wiring), modified mudguards, etc... . I think the fit & finish is excellent, except for a bit of a wide gap around the commander's cupola, under the vision slits. The smoke dischargers are especially well done. I could go on & on. I know it can't compare with a "real" kit built model ... but for a non-modeler like me, I think it's pretty nice!

I know of a place that still has one in stock. PM me if you're interested.
