1/48 Easy Models

Post by Axis Nightmare » Tue Feb 23, 2016 6:29 pm

Stopped in our area Hobbytown and saw in person for the first time 1/48 scale MRC Easy Models. They are quite impressive except that they have more traditional model kit style seams than the 1/72 versions. Still better than thick clunky metal die cast.

They had P-47, P-51 and P-40. They had different prices from about $29 to $35.

My Hobbytown store has had these for a while - the P-51D, the P-47, and the P-40. I was not overly impressed. While the paint applications are good, the detail was lacking overall and the planes just appeared "simplistic" compared to the offerings of Hobby Master, etc. I do have a few of the MRC Easy Model 1:72 aircraft and helicopters and feel they are better in that scale.

They look like a kit assembled and painted nicely but none of the seams were filled. I always liked the light weight (and lighter prices  )of the Easy Models. There was an effort in the 1/72 line to mold them so most of the seams are less visible. After being used to 21st C. stuff, they struck me as all around quite accurate though.
