Finished airbrushing panel lines and first coat of paint
Re: My current project : Me 262 night fighter
Thank you guys.
Starting to hand painting the camo with brown violet first. I've decided to hand brush the camo since that is what the German did back then on the field before airbrush

That is one busy camo pattern. You did each mark by hand? I would not have the patience for that.
I plan on a 2-seater myself eventually, but I plan to paint it to resemble the one at the museum at Pensacola NAS as that's my hometown and I have lots of pics of it.

yes I hand painted each mark. This is the first time hand painting the camo for me and probably the last time too . Below is the "8" from a museum in South Africa. My plane is "10".[CAT]CplSlade wrote:That is one busy camo pattern. You did each mark by hand? I would not have the patience for that.

Fantastic paint work! Aircraft #10 is the same one that 21c replicated in 1:18 scale.
The history (or rather brief history) of NJG 11/ Kommando Welter is interesting... Really the radar equipped ME-262Bs were found to be too slow to intercept the RAF Mosquitos and were instead deployed against the heavy bombers, but in the few weeks they were used did not score any kills with more aircraft destroyed due to mechanical issues rather than combat. Had they been in action longer, I'm sure the techniques and successes of the first jet night fighters would have been different.

Thanks very much guys
tmanthegreat,
Good info there of the 262B night fighter. Initially I wanted to do the "12" Kommando Welter plane but decided to use the stock decals to keep cost down.
