Hi , Well ,I got a Renwal model howitzer in 1/32 scale under the tree this year. Anyone put that together yet? Any trouble if you did. I also seen a Lindberg d-day invasion L.C.V.P. in 1/32 scale { Limited Edition} on e-bay. Again is it worth getting?
I'm trying to stay in 1/32 scale since I have a good many US armor/ military stuff in that scale and I;m always looking.
Putting models together gives me something to do in the winter. I don't want to go into 1/35 scale at my age.
Anyone input on the above kits or other newer kits?

Re: military kits in 1/32 scale
Can't say anything about Renwal, but my experience with Lindberg - at least back in the 70's - was the plastic was a bit flashy and bits didn't always match up without a lot of putty and finagling.
But if its all you got, its all you got.
I too am avoiding going outside of 1/32. Its much easier with aircraft.

Re: military kits in 1/32 scale
I built the Lindberg LCV. Not bad. I even added extra troops, FOV infantry that came with some of their vehicles. Looks good. I have not built the Renwal howitzer or atomic cannon yet.
I too... 1/32 all the way!

Re: military kits in 1/32 scale
"Back in the old days" as we ancient guys say, 1/32nd was used by several model manufacturers before 1/35th came to dominate the armor market.
Renwal made kits in the late 50's/early 60's. They were poor in fine detail and accuracy but offer some starting points for a better model. Their line included; M41 Walker Bulldog, M47 Patton II, Atomic Cannon with transporter trucks, Mace missle with transporter, M62 wrecker truck, M55 8" SP howitzer, M50 Ontos. Revell-Monogram now owns most (all?) of the Renwal military model tooling and releases them in limited numbers from time-to-time.
Lindberg has done the 1/32nd LCVP - again, an old kit, but not too bad, especially if you can find it cheap. The figures are pretty rough, but again, the kit can be upgraded. Lindberg did a 1/32nd scale M46 Patton (Korean war era) that wasn't too bad, but is hard to find. Lindberg kits are hit and miss quality and they wandered all over the place for scales.
Monogram made a decent series of military models in the 1970's. They had the M8 and M20 armored cars, the M4 and M4A1 Shermans, the M3 Lee and M3 Grant, the Pz IVH, the Wirbelwind flakpanzer, the Stug IV, the Jagdpanzer IV/70, the Sdkfz 232 8-wheel armored car. Earlier Monogram kits were closer to 1/35th even though some were later reboxed as "1/32nd".
There were also several guns and such from the model soldier companies cast in lead alloy.
So there ar some options out there to expand your collection, you ar just going to need to seek them out and be ready to build.
