4D Vision 1/32 Scale F-14

Post by ostketten » Thu Oct 28, 2010 2:47 pm

Is this a good deal on this model...?? I've been toying (no pun intended) with the idea of getting one.

That's the cheapest I have seen it.
Everywhere else it's at least $100.

Thanks, yeah I thought that looked like a pretty sweet deal, most of the places I had looked it was running in the $110-$130 range, and the free shipping from Amazon makes it even better. I just ordered one, it should make a real nice companion to my BBI F-4 Phantom.

Thanks, mikeyt.

Always great to see that picture of the 4D F-14 with the BBI F-4. And the 1/72 models along side for a good size comparison.

I think you will be very happy with your 4D F-14, ostketten. And a great price, especially with the free shipping. :D

That is cheap. My local Hobbytown USA store just put one out on the shelf and its priced at $150.

I'm hoping Amazon will eventually have the "Black Aces" version available at that price. If they do I'll probably get one.

I know I'm a little late to this thread (I usually hang out on the 1/18 side mostly). I have posted before about the 4D Vision model on other threads here with this same info.
If you have HobbyLobby stores near you make sure you check their shelves. I have 2 within 20 minutes and both have at least one of these on the shelf for about $90. About once every 4 weeks there is an online coupon for 40% off that you print out and bring in - that brings it down to ~$55 without tax and no shipping. You can' t beat that for this plane. The 4d Vision 1/72 shuttle is the same story usually listed at about $120 but with 40% coupon it comes in around $72.
4D is coming out with two more versions a Black Aces and a VX-9 Vampires all black:

One thing to note: these models are very detailed with a lot of "loose" parts if you want to be able to open up various compartments - the panels just fall right off with little movement. So, if you are planning on "flying it" around with your BBI F-4 you will have to glue down some of the panels and moving parts. If you only plan on displaying it though you'll be fine.

Hope this info helps some of you guys.

Thanks a bunch for that info. 8) I have a Hobby Lobby store within about a 40 mins. drive from my home, and if I can get hold of the 40% off coupon you spoke of it will definitely be worth the trip to see if they've got a "Black Aces" in stock.

I would call ahead first and ask for someone in the "models" department to see if they have it in stock. There is a 40% on any item coupon right now that ends tomorrow. They have them every week but it isn't always the 40% off coupon. So, if you go tomorrow you can use the current coupon (see below link).

I check the HobbyLobby website probably 2X a month and I don't think I've ever seen a 60% off any item coupon before.
