My first multi-prop Corgi came in today.

Post by Panzer_M » Tue Feb 23, 2010 7:51 pm

A big box was waiting for me when I got back to the house, tonight.much bigger than I thought a 1/72 plane would need..and it was my Corgi Ju52/3 Ostfront. Haven't opened it up yet to see it..but the box is impressive to say..trying to find a spot to do a line up of this, the inbound Ju88A-5 and He-111H-6(which should be the next one to come in, the 88 is coming in from England)

Now you'll be hooked 8)

Corgi does package their big aircraft nicely and they are easy to store or display. They are the best diecast aircraft of that sort. Quite heavy, but sturdy. They tend to have a lot of moving parts and the pilot and crew figures are one of my favorite touches. Luckily Corgi has quite a varied selection so there is always something interesting out there. They can also be highly collectable.

I got my first multi-engine Corgi aircraft (a B-17) at the RAF Museum in London, when I was living in England back in 2003. (Sure was fun lugging that big box all the way across town on the Underground and the trains!) I picked up a couple more pieces while I was still in the UK and had to get an extra suitcase to haul them back to the US when I moved home.

My collection has grown a little since then

I am looking at a Corgi B-24 Lib(The RAF Coastal Command) or Wellington Coast Command for a Allied Bomber. And the late war Night attack swordfish as also caught my eye.

I'd like to see Corgi do some more Finnish planes, since they don't shy way from the swastika like some companies it should be a issue for them..I know they make the Gladiator in IL markings for the Winter War. But I'd like to see a Blenheim, Do-17z or Ju 88.

The Finnish swas shouldn't be an issue for anyone considering they started using it ca. 1919 whilst Hitler was still an unemployed dolt stirring up scheisse in the beer halls. But pc is as pc does.

I have a Corgi He-111 but not a Ju-52 yet. They make such cool stuff I wish they'd do a 1/72 Betty or better yet a Nell.

you have to figure now, people don't know history and get historical over "evil" images as all want to be seen as being PC nowadays.

I am sure you will like them all.

My personal favourite twin engine Corgi's are the He 111,Catalina,and Wellington.

Just got my Do 17 a couple of days ago.

Before you pull the trigger on Hells Angels,Scott.

Breaking news!
Corgi is going to do a re release of Memphis Belle. 8)
Third quarter of 2010.

Missed out on the first release, and wasn't going to break the bank to get one.
Now I don't have to.

Retailing for $124.99 apparently. 8)

That Hells Angel is nice though.

I'd go for a RAF B-17E(or the RAF might have gotten Ds I don't remember)

He-111 H-6 Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey came in today, and i have to say wow. The Heinkel is so cool, big and has lots of neat little options I like the bomb bay feature with the vertical bomb racks.

You got the Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey HE-111 as well? That's the one I have. Good news about the re-release of the Memphis Belle as well

yep. 50$ plus 8 S/H via USPS, on Ebay for the Kuhlmey and GBP 23.00(35.XX USD)for the Ju88A-5 5./KG30.
That's the deal I snagged on the Heinkel, I was actually looking/watching a KG1, H-3 Battle of Britain one that sold for 7 dollars.

Right now i am looking for info on the SM.81 Bats(Ex-Regia Aeronautica) that the Kuhlmey gruppe used..to see if I want to build a Italeri kit as one.

The following units and aircraft in Finland belonged to Detachment Kuhlmey:

I./SG 3: 33 Junkers Ju 87 D-5 Stuka dive bombers
II./JG 54: 29–62 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-6 fighters
I./SG 5: 16 Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F-3 and F-8 jabos at Alakurtti.
I./NaGr 5: 1–8 Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-8 reconnaissance aircraft
The transport squadron TGr.10 also belonged to the unit, and it consisted of 35 Savoia Marchetti SM.81/AR transport aircraft and a number of transport, liaison and reconnaissance aircraft. I had a pdf of the entire wing of all aircraft it operated but lost it sometime ago it seems.

The majority of the aircraft of the unit left Finland on 23 July, but I/SG 5 who stayed until 13 August. A memorial was raised at the Immola airfield on 23 July 1994 in memory of the unit.

my Ju 88A-5 came in via Royal Mail/USPS today I can not believe I got it for 35.00. That is just a steal for a big heavy plane like this. I need to make room to display the Ju52/3, He 111H-6 and Ju 88 on their flight stands.

Post by glcanon » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:32 pm

Specifically, I'm looking for the PBY Catalina AA36102 "Snafu Snatchers"

Looking to trade my Corgi B-17.

Or, know of anyone with this model maybe wanting to trade for something?

I know Aikens still has it, but really looking to do a trade.

thanks!
