BMC Higgins Boats/Amtracks

Post by olifant » Wed Nov 07, 2007 12:13 pm

Has anybody purchased any of the BMC Higgins boats or armored amtracks? They are for sale on the FETCO website and are wondering if these could be useable with some painting and detail additions.

If you could share I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I have several of both and they are worth the money. Although I've never painted my, I'm sure a coat of Krylon Fusion, some weathering, and rust marks would really bring out their charm. They're pretty big as well. I think that the Amtrack is a little bigger than a 32X Sherman and the Higgins can easily hold 20 32X figs just like in SPR. The driver compartment is small, but not too small, on the Higgins. I'd say purchase a pair of each. You'll like them and as far as I know BMC is the only company making those pieces in 1/32. I hope this helps and post some pics once you work your magic.

Both were org King and Country. BMC uses the old King and Country molds.... so they are probably closer to 1:30 scale but who cares, they work great!

After four days FETCO has not responded to my e-mail. Has anyone here done business with them before? Also, does anyone know who else sells these BMC amtracks and Higgins boats?
