1:18 Modern Weapons Guide

Post by grunt1 » Sat Sep 22, 2007 7:12 am

Gang, I'm trying to add text to some of the images on the database to help identify exactly what some of these weapons are..

Here is what I have so far, any corrections or clarifications would be appreciated.

One oddity I noticed was that the rocket launcher appears to be a Javelin, but the round looks like it belongs to a Dragon.. :?:

Anyway, here ya go:

Good project. I believe what you have as the SAW is actually a Mk 46. One of the guys in service could likely clarify.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javelin_anti-tank_missile

Javelin missile is sort of torpedo shape, with pop out fins around the mid body and tail. If those are bbi weapons pics i found their missiles to be failry incaccurate, and scratchbuilt my own.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Good call digger.. The manufacturers site (for both the M240 and MK46) says the MK46 was developed from the M240 SAW (70% common parts) as a lightweight version.

http://www.fnmfg.com/products/m249fam/mk46mod1.htm

So, I've fixed that one..

Also, I dug into my parts box and did a comparison shot of the BBI Dragon missle vs. their Javelin missle. The Jav is a bit larger so I think it's correct above or at least as much as BBI chose to make it.

Ok, based on the photo below, it would appear the one in the second row on the left is a M1911 .45 - USMC MEU(SOC)?

Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

Thanks Spud, you have any input here? It would be greatly appreciated. :)

I think I'm close on the pistols except for that last one on the bottom.

And yes, iflabs, these are all 1:18 weapons from BBI's Elite Force line.

The launcher is definitely a Javelin and the round is a Dragon. The pistols are 2 M1911's, a glock and a sig.
