A Kettenrad would have been much cooler - and more useful in certain respects

I can also wish I won the lottery last night. But, I didn't, and we're getting an M-17. Things could be worse.

The sad thing is, if this trailer doesn't sell well, then 21st will use that as an axample of how "armor" doesn't sell well....

The quad trailer with a gunner would be neat.

Googly is right, 21C cancelled the 1/6 scale after offering us a 1/9 tank and a Hunvee with problems and they said 1/6 doesn't sell......pleassssseee  .

Hopefully it will sell well, but given that it is priced high for such a small piece - afterall, the Pak-40 gun was only $22 last year as were the halftracks - then many trailers will just sit around. I can't see the average parent wanting to pay $30 for a toy trailer, even if it has a figure and gun turret

Trailers seem to be the backend of a product. It's like buying the trailer of a big rig without buying the cab first. I don't see this trailer as selling too well. The $30 price tag doesn't help either.

I say sell the trailer with a half trak, or a duce.

As long as the M-17 comes with something decent to tow it, like a 2 1/2 ton WW II (GMC, Studebaker or International) 6x or even better a M35 I really can't see a problem.

But seeing the above is so unlikely to happen............ I have to admit I just love the Kettenkraftrad.

But if an M35 did surface then milliseconds later I would have the quad remounted on the flatbed of the truck ala Vietnam Gun-truck style.

As for the vote, I chose not to, seeing that the M17 is a reality while the Kettenkraftrad like the A-10 is merely a dream.

>>> This is not necessarily true and I have to disagree. ... Just because a certain item does'nt sell well does'nt mean it's the end of 1:18 armor and it's going to kill it.

21st. may realize they may have made a bad judgement call on it , and carry on , like they should.

These products are a matter of opinion and personal interest. ... Same goes for 1/6 or anything else , for that matter.

I believe 21st. knows what they think will sell well and what won't. ... Just give'r time , we can't have everything now , as much as we'd like to.

This is far from the end , Ladies & Gentlemen. ................... Carry on 21st. !

I hear it sells great and that a few other companies are releasing new armor soon...

I think both Mike and 21C have said a number of times that no matter what we want to believe, AC outsells armor in multiples.

If people want a Kett we should put it in a poll with a Zundapp, an Opel, a Higgins, a Deuce & a half and a US Howitzer and see how it shakes out with other items that would require all new molds..

In short, I'm happy 21CT is offering the M-17 and hope they'll continue to occasionally give us less than obvious (and maybe even some exotic) choices...and whatever they release, if it ain't my cup of tea, I don't hafta drink it...

I have almost eveything made in 1/18 scale. I have up to 6 or more on some pieces. Tanks, planes, cars and trucks. The trailer will not be in my collection when they come out unless they go on sale for $1. 8)
I voted for the Kettlel.

I agree that the trailer seems kinda useless as a stand alone piece without something to hitch it up to, especially considering we already have the Quad .50 halftrack. I suppose you could hitch the trailer to some other vehicle, a 3/4 ton weapons carrier for example, it has a hitch of sorts on the back although it doesn't appear to be a functional one, but that's nothing any modeler worth his salt couldn't overcome. Maybe there is a deuce and a half in waiting in the shadows to pull this thing??

I voted for the Sturmgeschutz III...oh wait was that on the poll?

I haven't seen one yet, but I'll buy it now, so in a few years when everybody is looking for it... aka the late Kubelwagen.

What's wrong with the current trucks we have now?

To put it simply they are all too small to tow such a large trailer, it would be like trying to tow a PaK40 behind a Kubelwagen or for a SdKfz 251 to tow an 88, neither are rated to so.

A different way to look at it, maybe when they decided to make the 88 flack gun or the me-262 they found out they had enough room on one of the molds to make a smaller item like a trailer. Just a thought

The trailer is that big? I was thinking "uhaul" size. I never seen one until 21c pictures so I have no idea of size.

As I understand it the M17 trailer mounting the M51 quad .50 was intended to be towed by a 2 1/2 ton truck, there was however a smaller trailed version of the quad .50 which was the M55 this incorporated an integral trailer and had the armour plate removed, weighing around 1.4 tonne (3000 lbs) it was designed for air transport and could be towed behind a Jeep.

The M55 given the current crop of soft skins available would have been a more sensible choice, unless there is another surprise in store that has at least 10 tyres.

this trailer was also existing. it's the M45 :

I guess this one could have been trailed by a Dodge.

Now like Spudkopf say, maybe there is a GMS hidden somewhere :D

I'm going with the Kettenkrad, not in place of the quad 50.... I like German stuff; if 21st is going to produce Allied (armor) U.S., British, French or Russian it's all good. I'm not going to knock it....... if you don't want it don't buy it. If I can find a quad 50 at TRU its going in my collection.
Nice Going 21st!!! I'd like to see your King Tiger and that 88 we've been hearing about.
