Yep, We can thank 21st for this one. I have to give props to BBi and Admiral, at least when they announce something, you can damn near bet it will be done. There doesn't seem to be any logic with 21st's news. They announced only when trying to fend off competition and then give little to no follow up. They announce things we never do see, and then we dont find out about something actually being made until after someone finds one at Walmart (disinformation?). 21st makes great 1:18 military products and our hobby wouldn't be alive without their leadership, but sure wish they'd do better job with consumer relations and information management.
No slam on TKO, he can only provide what he is given, at least that is something.

Back to subject: I don't blame Admiral for not taking the chance with the F-4 after what 21st pulled. Sad thing now is if history is any indication, we wont see one from 21st for a couple of years, if at all. :?

Does that mean the we won't be seeing the Dauntless over at militarytoyshop.com any time soon?

Don't have a clue whether I should be pre-ordering mine or not...

Believe he is Steve Smith.

Man that's sad Admiral Toys has back burnered their 1/18 F-4. I'll bet it was going to be a really nice plane with alot of cool detail and new features.

I kind of wonder if 21st Century will ever make the MIG-21. I have heard nothing on that model. :(

I think 21c feels that they've accomplished the goal of keeping anyone else from making what they would not otherwise make (if even then). The MiG was just insurance.

if i dont see the 21st F4 for sale with in 6 months of this post,
im gonna personally call up Sutherland and tell him to go F*&^ himself.

thanks for "omg we AT made something, quick lets destroy them
and pretend we are making one too"

im so sick and tired of 21st's shakiness, its coming out , and then
its not, it on the water, and its delayed. Make up your friggin
mind, pretending things are coming out is not good for the market,
and niether for the customers.

stay with your word or shut your hole*

I see that the suggested retail for 21c's Me-262 is $90!! What will they ask for the F-4, should it be released, (it'll be much more then they announced, I think)? With the shipping now, I'll have to forgo and buy another suitcase to put one in if I find one to bring it back on the plane. I did that for BBI's OD Blackhawk and the RIB boat I found at BigLots this last time around, it was only 20 bucks and free shipping with Alaska Air.

Probably a good move on AT's part. They should forget about competing with a juggernaut like 21st. Instead concentrate on something totally different , and announce it only when it in route. It's really irritating when you have all the announcements (like what happened after the NY toy fair) only to wet our appetites.

On the 21st pricing issue: I can see 21st haveing a chance of their F4 still being for the price they announced--if WM will carry it. Considering recent trends with WM stocking and the general Avenger fiasco (has anyonee found any Avengers at WM except the $25 Atlantic version?), I see the odds of WM taking a chance on a $90 airplane. Considering that the suggewsted retail of the Me-262 and Avenger is about $90, I suspect the 21st F4 (and Mig 21) will be at on-line retailers for around $130-$140 (does this price sound vaguely familiar?), and maybe at TRU for about $100-$120. When will we see it (along with the 21st's B-25 that AT may also have been working on at the time)? Considering that the Me-262 announced in November is now being put up for preorder with a target date, I am guessing late 2008. Maybe we will be surprised, maybe not.
As far as AT putting their F4 on the back burner: that doesn't mean it's cancelled. It just means that other projects have much higher priority. And I think we all do want to see the Dauntless and Skyraider soon, too. According to comments Jason made back at Toyfair, the F4 was planned to be last of the 3 anyway. And if nothing else, it will give us a chance to see if 21st keeps their word, too.

Geez, if the retail price for the 21st Century ME262 is 90 dollars, what will it be for the B-25? Oh well, better head to the bank for a medium bomber loan. :D

I wonder if 21st announced their F-4 just to squash Admiral's plans for making one. I think that would turn alot of collectors off. With what we are seeing lately I wonder how many of the previously announced planes will be made. I guess time will tell.

I did not like what happened at toy fair 07, but lets not keep beating up on 21st over this issue.
I also think there is a strong market for both f-4 made from both companies. While 21st seems to be the big dog on the block when it comes to 1:18 military toys and AT is the smaller dog more like a “great Dane pup” just starting to grow, I think both companies have the potential to do great things in 1:18.
But both are considered to be the small dog of the toy world, and in this day and age of the anti war movement and liberals trying to impose their anti-war beliefs on the vast majority of us, I think we need to have a strong front and show support for both companies. Yes there are people out there that don’t want children to play with war toys, sick I know. But I think we need to stop bashing 21st over the f-4 debacle
That all in the past, and as much as I was disappointed in how it transpired I don’t hold any grudges on 21st part. I still think 21st is going to make the Platoon line, F-4 and the Mig-21, will we see the jets this year I don’t know, probably not.

The last I know no one has issued a death certificate on both f-4’s like FD said Jason said it’s on the back burner, and 21st has Zach have not indicated their mig-21 and f-4 projects have been canceled yet, cross your fingers. So who is to blame for this debate about our F-4 not going to be made…..it’s BAD CAT MATT and his blog . Go sit in the corner Mat….LOL just kidding. It’s is just his opinion and just that.

On a last note look what the competition did for the me-262. Both companies made their best products and it shows…both are great looking models that showcase two different versions of that aircraft.

A NEW generation of 1:18th scale aircraft has arrived with in the last 16 months, and both Admiral toys and 21st has brought on the change…..I look forward in seeing what these two companies will be making in the years to come.
