Check out the buyer's history - he's buying quite a few models at prices ranging from fairly sensible (round about $30 for an M4A3 Sherman, an M16 halftrack Quad AA carrier and a Kubelwagen) to somewhat high ($102 each on two Stukas), to this one.

Maybe he's just very rich (or is in for a nasty surprise?)
But then he did buy what looks to be exactly the same model (same camo and hull number) for $78 last month...

Maybe someone should email him and ask if he wants to join!

Interesting. I'd hate to see what an Ambush Panther would go for right now!

At this point, I wish I would have bought an Ambush Panther when I had the chance, but I didn't because it doesn't look quite right to me. It looks like a bird pooped all over it. I prefer the 1st edition.

That is the first edition Panther, and it was a Toys R Us exclusive  It originally sold for $40. I wouldn't paint one in DAK colors as the Panther wasn't used in North Africa - at least as far as I know. Tigers were used, but only in the later stages of the campaign. The Panther did see service on the Eastern Front, Italy, and Western Europe 8)

Tman is correct....no Panther saw service in North Africa because the Panther didn't enter service til mid '43 and all went to Russia for Kursk offensive.

You could repaint a Panther in overall dark yellow however, which is how a lot of them looked in the early stages of their career. Note that dark yellow is not the same colour that german tanks were painted in North Africa, which was an orangey brown colour that bleached to a light sand colour over time.

I might just get a panther for my battle of the bulge guys or my regular gray coated germans  But i was doing some research last night and i saw a picture of a panther that was painted tan though. I think i will just get a tiger and paint it tan for my dak figs :D Thanks for telling me or i would have changed the outcome in north africa

the panther was probably overall dark yellow, not tan. Dark yellow varied quite a bit in shade.

Standard armor base coat was Dunklegelb (dark yellow) and the Germans used Sandgelb (sand yellow) when they could get it. Otherwise they used captured British, US, and Italian paint. So your DAK schemes have a lot of room for interpretation.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

I'm afraid I may be responsible as I'm the one that pointed this Mexican collector to this item, as he was inquiring about how to get a 1:18 Panther. When they are going for these kind of prices, might be time for 21st Century to push out another version methinks!

It looks pretty much like the 1st version but has white spots all over it. Looks like birds crapped all over it.
