POST BBI KIOWA & S. HUMVEE FINDS AND DISCUSSION HERE

Post by Morian Miner » Fri Jan 21, 2005 1:53 pm

Saw four BBi Kiowas at Toys R Us today. Shelf sticker price of $19.99. If I wasn't trying to buy a RC copter, I would have snagged one. They look REALLY nice.

That's good news - if only because it came out of the blue so we may get other things out of the blue as well. $20 is crazy - may beat the LB in value at that price. Did you see the pilot?

these aren't really out of the blue....they were announced a few months ago. They weren't expected until March though....

2 months early, no fan club email & no pre-orders anywhere - pretty out of the blue. Anyway, I'm happy - I'll take at least one :D

Went to my TRU today and there was only 1 1/18 Little Bird and 1 1/48 Blackhawk, NOTHING else nor a place for any military toys.

I think the pilot was the carded Blackhawk pilot with night vison goggles on the helmet.

Have to go check TRU! I'm not sure whether or not I want this helo, but I want to see it first. Also, $20 sounds like an excellent deal!

Like the obsessed idiot that I am, drove through a snowstorm to the closest TRU (15 minutes in good weather) to check. Nothing yet. The bbi area's still pretty well cleaned out.

I just checked BadCat and I see that the Kiowa and the Super Humvee have both been announced, but are not yet available for preorder. Between my son and me, we're good for 2 of each!

hmm.....the latest update on BCA's site says:

"January 21, 2005--BBi announces several new items coming soon"

I'm likin' the word 'several'. A kiowa and super humvee alone can't be classified as 'several' can they?

Found the BBi Super Recon Humvee at my local Huntsville, AL ToySRus today but no sign of Kiowa yet. Taking a trip to Texas this week and will stop in Tennessee and Texas to see if I can find them there.
BBi section was empty except for the Hummers.

I found 3 each of the super humvee and the kiowa at the sugerhouse Utah TRU this afternoon!
They are both 20 bucks and both a bargan! And in case anyone is interested, the ring mount from the super does fit the ring mount hole in the bbi armored humvee...

Anyone what type of mg/cannon is on the kiowa? best I can tell it is a cased m2hb with an aircooled vent.

btw, the new kiowa comes with 2 rocket pods, 2 stinger pods (2 per pod), and a port mounted cannon with ammo box. the figure appears to be the same that came with the littlebird.

it is a great helicopter and probably the best yet for the price.

You're right - it's a .50 in there.
Question: can you take Hellfires from the Apache to arm the Kiowa? That would be a very nice touch...

Btw, go here for simple specs on the Kiowa:

No Hellfire mix: it appears that the pods hook onto two pronged holes (one semi hexed shape). The cannon is very cool.

I have to say it is much more solid than the Little bird. Everything is on tight (especially the skids).

Any more sightings on this one? Any sightings on the east coast? I'm looking forward to this one, being the helo nut that I am.

I don't think the F-18 had a very wide distribution; too big and too expensive. I only saw it once at TRU in Chicago, and only then at one of the larger stores, and only right before Christmas.

Anyway I'm going out on Friday, hopefully they'll have the Kiowa in this week (they got the Super Humvee in last week).
