Good job, Admiral. Really hope this bird is a success. If $140 is what it takes for us to see limited runs of the big birds like the F-14, F-15, MiG29, and SU-27 that may not do as well in retail cool (notice, no A-10 - that bird needs to go to retail).

Great!

I didnt expect Admiral to make an F-4!

The price isnt worth it for me, but how can I not buy an F-4?

As for detail, I am a bit confused about it. There is nothing super-detailed you can make on a turbine aircraft (I think). I cant imagine opening turbine covers, not much to see on the outside of a turbine. Did the F-4's even have turbine doors? :? The F-4 didnt have any guns, so no opening gun covers, where is the super-detailedness?

Since nothing can be done with the F-4, execpt opening cockpit, and moving control surfaces, I think the price should be lower, like around BBI's F/A-18 or F-16.

Then again, the price isnt final yet

Well its about bloody time  I've been waiting for a 1:18 Phantom ever since 21c did their Vietnam line, and now it looks as though we'll get one in a year or so. This certainly is a very ambitious project and it will be one of the largest 1:18 planes ever :D I hope AT puts all the moving control surfaces, ordinance, cockpit detail, etc. into this one - and that they make a couple really nice figures to go with it  Count me in on this one!

I just had to do this...

Waiting patiently for 21st's announcement of the F-4 at Toy Fair this afternoon!! 8)

Woohoo!! This will be a fantastic model, and there is absolutely no way that Admiral won't be able to pay off the tooling with enough runs for this plane! Will this follow with previous Bad Cat manufacturer exclusives and see two different schemes right away???

I am a big fan of the F4, and way to go to AT. One of my earliest airplane memories is being at Niagra Falls AFB (Back when it was an AFB) and seeing the red glow as an F4 took off. It will be a must have. Though, I will wait to see if other stores put it out before I bite on pre-order.

However, I was truly hoping for a B-25. Prop jobs hold a ton of nostalgia for me and I favor them. But, this is truly a good sign.

The F-4 started without a gun but was later equiped with a Vulcan 20mm Gatling gun. Also it carried a wide variety of munitions. As for detailing there are some things Admiral can do, flaps, folding wing tips like BBI's F-18, Movable forward wing slats, a removable nose cone to show the radar assembly, cockpit, and a removable engine. Its a very complex plane. I probably watched most of the fleet come off the line when I lived next to the McDonnel Douglas Plant in Saint Louis.

I'm not to worried about movable features. They can quickly cause the price to skyrocket to the point few would buy it.

I'll be looking for two of these in VN era Navy and AF. With much different ordinance hopefully.

Looking at Bad Cat's splash, it looks to be detailed well in places, and yet kinda simplified in others.

The cockpit and ejection seats appear to be where most of the effort has been applied. It also appears to have fold up wing tips. Does not appear to have leading edge slats. There is quite a bit done with panel lines, and it comes with a full complement of Sparrows and Sidewinders, and drop tanks (which I hope they fix since they look kinda cheesy with misaligned halves).

And that's just what we can see! Now, where are those pictures!!

Yes, the pictures are from my album. Not Admiral Toys.

The B-26 is a model at a museum.
