G'day All

I know this is a tad OT, but on the weekend my Brother had his annual fly-in/BBQ, this was held at his farm airstrip located in central Victoria, Australia.

On Saturday I was lucky enough to get a ride in a genuine WWII veteran War-bird, no not one of your fancy pants Spitfires or Mustangs but a true hero of the skies, a Piper L4-J Grasshopper.

Being the passenger I lucked out and got the front seat, in an all to short but none the less enjoyable experience.

As you can see in the shot’s below she is finished in ETO colours, although her actual service life was in the Philippines.

I have always thought that ARMY Co-Op aircraft such as the L4 Grasshopper, L5 Sentinel and Fi 156 Storch would make excellent stable mates for 1:18 armour.

Guillows do make a 1/18th scale free-flight/electric model of a Piper Super-Cub which should be able to be converted back to represent an L4, I will have to investigate, see I knew I could put an OnT spin back on this thread.

Nice! 8)

My neighbor is a L bird freak, so there are always some hanging around.
Thats not including the 8 or 9 in his hanger.

If I could kick the XD addiction I might could get me a L-5 project.

Since there is some 1:18 talk in here... I'll keep this here instead of moving it to the off topic forums.

Cool photos! Sounds like an awesome ride. I should really post about the Japanese A6M5 Zero photo shoot I did over Chino/Ontario California last weekend.

Hey! I know all those planes! :-D They belong to the Planes of Fame Museum (I'm their webmaster and official photographer). P-38J Lightning 'Porky II', P-40N Warhawk, F6F-3 Hellcat, and F4U-1A Corsair. Very cool. They were all together for the East Coast Tour. Currently all of them, minus the P-40, are at the Planes of Fame museum again.
