There are unproduced 1:18 from other companies you may want to add to your archive. These are from BBIs' website:

That unproduced Vietnam stuff would've been awesome especially that Sheridan and those watch towers, and I would die for that PBR!

Thanks for compiling all those photos! There were some really cool items there, some of which I hadn't seen before! The Viet Nam structures should have been produced, as with the WWII Gov't. building and that bridge. I also liked the tent. The ME-262 will aparently become a reality next year. You had a picture of an M-113, which save for a change in the turret design, is what are sitting on WM shelves right now! I am actually very dissapointed that the German tanker figures were not produced. I know we got the Winter German Tanker, but those just doesn't go well with the non-winterized Tiger and Panthers. Thanks again for the new site!

That is a very cool thing you did! There is still hope for many of these items as 21c struggles back to life. I'm hoping the upcoming 'Platoon' line will go well for them and then they can release some of the other Vietnam stuff.

As armour is being produced again there is now a reasonable chance of seeing the 222, Pak 40 etc. Next time i talk to Roy i'll put a bug in his ear.

:D

i've moved this thread to the 1/18 board because i think a lot of people will miss it in this forum. No way to copy so i left a shadow behind in the reference room.

In time i'll move it back to here.

Thanks Centone, we really appreciate what you did for us.
tmanthegreat- I thought the tiger I saw at walmart was a winter version since I saw the winter driver inside. I guess I was wrong. Is there any major differences between the two, like certain markings or numbers on the hull or is it just the paint scheme?

There is stuff there that I never saw the pictures for---that has to be before my time at GP's site--pre Spring 2002. I generally save all of the files from the coverage myself. That is some neat stuff. Thanx for putting that together---and here's to hoping that one day we may see it all.

I wonder where I was when some of those pictures were shown. Anyway centone, I have a larger picture of the RTO by itself if you want it. I can e-mail it to you or post it there. Let me know. Thanks

1/18 winter hayloft

Post by red69charger » Tue Dec 07, 2004 11:46 am

I actually own one of the pre-production winter haylofts in your picture. After the hobby show where I assume the photo you had was taken, 21st got rid of it so they wouldn't have to transport it back. At that point I think 21st was still confident the winter playset would come out soon ... obviously it never did. I believe they had at least one other winter hayloft some other lucky person picked up.

Thanks for putting together all those photos of what could have been.

We owe a big thanks to Centone, great job.

I didn't even know they were thinging at one time about the Mule and M-38A1 both with the 106 recoilless rifles. Wow. And the M-113 with the VN era mg shield. And the PBR, Four WOWs. The Me-262 would make me buy at least one, that's for sure, violating my rule against planes.....(its a flexible rule).

Now TTT is depressed, thinking about what might have been on our shelves.

Thanks for putting these pics together centone! Its nice to look and dream! I actually had hope that the troop carrier truck would come out soon, but, I hadnt realized they've been showing it for so long without producing it. Would also love to see the PBR. I'd buy a couple of them.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the great photos, Centone. Looking through all that "could have been" makes me wonder what went wrong and why none of these items were picked up by the retailers. IMO most, if not all of these, would sell if made available. And I STILL want that government building. :(

FYI the vientam mule with recoiless rifle is actually a model kit by Glencoe. It is listed as 1/15 but is actually about 1/19. You can find them on Ebay from time to time for not too much money. I have one but haven't built it up yet but from reports it's a decent kit and not something that is likely to ever appear in the xd range.

Really great info!

I, too, would love if they had come out with those German tankers. Good to see the 262 apparently becoming a reality....

They have shown us many items that took time (money) to make and that haven't been produced. I counted:
19 figures, but 7 are coming soon I hope (Marines)
14 playsets give or take, some I grouped together
14 vehicles, 5 were repaints and redesigns of the Jeep and Kubelwagen
3 new aircraft (which 1 is coming hopefully Me-262) with 5 repaints (the black P-38 was one, but isn't picture. Just remember seeing it on GP)

You would think that with all that money and time involved they would want to produce them. With a small company that would sink them with the money going out for research and develepment and not making it back. Maybe that is what got 21st C into trouble in the first place?

If you think about what we have without the repaints, there is not much to our collections. 53 figures that have been produced (drivers and pilots included give or take a few), 4 playsets, 15 vehicle molds with many repaints, and 13 aircraft molds and way too many repaints.

The never produced stuff being about half of what we have is a big number. I don't know much about the toy business, but that seems to me too large of a percent for loss. My two cents.

When i talked to Roy he told me they had protyotypes of all kinds of things lying around....most of which would never be made. That's just the way it is i guess.

What two planes are in the archive that we havent seen yet? The A-10 and what else?

ME-262. And a ton of repaints for the Corsair (Grey Navy), P-38 Lightning (Black Night Version), P-51 (Flying Undertaker), and Stukas (Africa Desert Camo and a odd lighter camo version).
