Avenger
21C knows how looooooooooong we have waited, and I, for one, am very glad they are making sure that this baby will be everything we have wanted, and more. As has been said already, the wait has been tough, thus, what is another month, or so?!

Thanks 21C...

Does anybody know what the packaging for the Avenger will look like? Is it going to be the standard green box that the latest planes have come in (BH Corsair, Desert Stuka, RidgeRunner Mustang)? Or is going to be a special edition type packaging like the German F-104? I would just like to know what to look for when I scan the shelves at WM. I certainly don't want to miss it!

Very nice! Looks like I'll be down for an Avenger repaint in the near future, as this will be one to have I wonder if it will be part of their "Legends" series? Hopefully, 21c will get it out during the holidays, as it will go over better at that time with the general public.

It definately won't be a standard sized box as the fuselage is too deep to fit the wings and other stuff. So, I couldn't hazard a guess on the shape of it.....pokeyjtc wrote:Does anybody know what the packaging for the Avenger will look like? Another one
Yessirree... I'll have to order the Bush version. From the Independence class USS San Jacinto, CVL-30. A great one for them to do, plus it is a long-running Pacific theatre paint scheme for the TBM...having a wider time frame of use.
The Bunker Hill TBM looks great, but the paint scheme limits the time frame to February of 1945 with the yellow cowl. (also, Bunker Hill had dash-3's at the time, although some of the other air groups still had dash-1C's at that time)

space planning
Some trivia for space planning your models...
I checked and the Avenger has almost the same size overall footprint as the F/A-18, except that the length and width are switched. So if you have a BBI Hornet, you'll have an idea of how much space the 21C Avenger will take up.

ha
I agree it is kinda funny, especially now that we're up to page 7 or so. If you go back to the first post you can see how it all started..tmanthegreat wrote:I love how the title of this thread begins with the words "The Wait is Over..."

The Avenger is a VERY complex plane, probably the most complex piece 21st has ever made.. So it stands to reason that they might/will have problems in both manufacturing and logistics..

Avenger folding wings.
If you ever get the chance to visit a museum who has one of these things, they'll most likely have the wings folded indoors simply because of space. (Here's the Cavanaugh Flight Museum's Avenger folded view):

And in the process:

The torque and leverage being put on the hinge will certainly over-stress a simple plastic hinge after some number of cycles, especially because the movement has multiple lines of force, which until someone is accustomed to it, means they'll probably at least weaken it the first few times.
Just my guess.
