New 1/18 Hind

Post by YT » Mon Jan 08, 2024 11:09 am

Just announced:
“The cat's out of the bag! Or, has the bird flown the coop?
Either way, it was announced on Brick Something's livestream that Delta-17 will be making a Hind-D helicopter in 1/18 scale!
This will be a BIG project, so please be patient. You will see it in 1.5-2 years.
It will come in two different paint versions: one classic Soviet-era camo paint job, and one custom Retrograd "Wolf" paint job.
The helicopter will come with one pilot figure with the option to purchase two more to fill out your
"flight crew" (gunner and flight engineer).
Price is unknown at this time.
ETA is unknown at this time.
Please be assured that we will do our utmost to make this iconic helicopter as accurately as possible and of the highest quality materials.
We will do our best to ensure that this toy can be taken apart easily for storage without having parts break or crack.
Thanks for your interest!”

I love my Picklehaub kit but if this comes to fruition, it sounds exciting!

Sounds expensive. Has Delta 17 made anything else 1/18 scale as a guide to price and quality? Why announce it 2 years in advance.....is this a crowd funding project?

EDIT: I found their website. They make a handful of mediocre looking figures. They may be O-ring figures. At the risk of being a wet blanket, I wouldn't get too excited about seeing a 1/18 Hind from them. Probably more of a pipe dream, or hype to get attention for their mediocre figures. Don't forget, we're still waiting for Admiral Toys 1/18 WWI airplane line and DH Mosquito.

I like their o-ring line. I talked to them at Joefest and they seemed like good guys.

I may get one depending on price.
I never made one for myself.
