New Armor For 2021

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Dec 28, 2020 6:44 am

Hey Guys ,

I have a ton of consignments lined up to do but that workload will clear .
So I am looking toward the future in the the next 2021 year.

So far here is what is planned.

M4A3E8 yes the Easy 8 ( in the works )
Re vamping Tiger II ( in the works )
Revamping the M-10 ( will be also doing the Achilles NEW ! )
Revamping Stuka D kit
Revamping Sdkfz 251 backdate.
Revamping Indy side car

NEW !!

Ostwind
Achilles ( British M-10 )

Possibilities

M-36 Jackson
M-3 Lee
105 Howitzer this may move up the list

Modern Armor Possibilities

BMP ( Russia's version of the M-113 kinda )
T-54-76 ( I have been thinking about it )
Stryker

Let me know if there is a "must have " in armor.

You know I'm in for another King Tiger! I just noticed
the Ostwind...I'll take one!

Must have...I wouldn't go that far but I'd like to see a Panzer III in 1:18. :)
Things are looking good Matthew. :salute:

BMP sand Stryker would be good sellers I believe.

I personally would like to see more Vietnam armor, M551 Sheridan, M42 Duster and a M108 Self Propelled Howitzer. That would be my list in addition to the 105mm Howitzer. As far as WWII amor I’d like to see a Sherman Calliope conversion in addition to the Easy 8, M-36 and M-3 already listed. My two cents :)

Yeah Normandy I agree to that, I don't want to go that far either but it would be great to see in the future a Panzer III and its chassis for the variations like the Stug III

M8 Greyhound car would be great too in the future. I know I'm just dreaming :D

Matthew I found two more unopened Indy bikes in the stash :) , when you're finished revamping Indy side car kit I'd like to order wheels, fenders and seats for the two bikes.
I was looking at your "Indiana Jones' Custom Sidecar Build !!!" what a great project.

I have started to re-work the King Tiger since last Friday.
I have cut off the side fenders and will cast them separate . ( 2 days worth of work )
I have been reworking other parts to make them simpler and cut down on the parts count also beefing up other parts.
I will hopefully be done tweaking the parts and will start making the molds on Thursday or Friday.

I will then start making a few kits then start on my list of full KT and JT builds.

I just saw this Pickel.... "I have cut off the side fenders and will cast them separate . ( 2 days worth of work )"
I know its more work for you but this beast is impressive even without fenders. Now the builder has the option
for either.

Or with some missing fenders...SS Tiger 104

Welcome to the forum !

There has been a big demand for both the Indy sidecar and the 251 backdate.

They definitely are both on the list to redo this year.

and I'm really behind it, do you know who built it and ...would anyone sell such conversion for a resonable prize ??? (to be shipped to Germany)

Collector,

The Brummbar has already been done by member Arcrala.
If the world needs another one I will do my rendition maybe next year.

I have spent the last 3 weeks making the molds for the King Tiger
With the cost of over $1,000 for RTV ( rubber mold material )
All the new parts are coming out great !
Except the rubber tracks
They are proving to be problematic along with the cold weather that has set in.

Usually the first pour on every part is tacky from the mold release .
The first pour of the tracks ( using new rubber resin ) still sticks to my fingers after 3 days of being poured.
So I cleaned the molds as good as I could with lacquer thinner and poured regular resin in them to absorb any residue mold release.
So I poured another set ,still tacky not near as bad as the first pour but unusable.
I will pour another set of standard resin and hope it will absorb all of the mold release .

I don't think the cold weather has anything to do with it because I have heaters on in that cold ass shop and I am using a hand held heat gun to warm up the molds then after being poured I bring them into the house.
The wife gives me BIG TIME FLAK about that , but I won that battle.

The rubber resin comes in sample sized containers and I can only make 2 full sets out of the containers .
At-$30-$40 a kit it isn't cheap and I have already wasted a kit.
The rubber resin takes 16-24 hours to set and the mixing is a long process.
I can buy it by the gallons and save some money but once opened it has a very short shelf life and it may just go bad before I finish pouring all of the tracks.
I will try to order some from Texas today ( Friday ) but may have issues with that as well.
We all know how Texas is doing now and the resin will possibly go bad in freezing weather in the back of the freight truck if my supplier is even in business do to the severe weather situation.
I will make the call anyway today.

I was able to make 3 kits before the cold weather set in and those are under way as full builds .( less the tracks )
There may be a chance I can start the final paint on them this weekend.
The tracks are not slowing me down in that respect

Some people do complain about the prices I charge but they have no idea what it takes to make these things.

Ok time for another cup of coffee and then it is time to get back at it.

Collector, I saw your and Picklehaube’s posts about the Brummbar and he’s right in that you’ll need to contact Aracula to see if he could still make one. I got his kit several years ago and it came out quite nicely:
