Re-Vamping the King Tiger ?

Post by pickelhaube » Wed Nov 18, 2020 7:05 am

Hey Guys,

I have tried to use the old molds for my King Tiger with mixed results .
The quality is not there for the parts in kit form .
Fine for me because I can do the additional work that is needed to bring the parts up for a full build.

I will probably need to re-make all of the molds to bring them up to snuff.
The cost of the new RTV will be some were to $300-$450
Some what of an investment if there will be only 2-3 guys interested.

There are a couple of guys on e-bay who want the kit .
How about you guys ?
Same price as the first run $350 plus shipping .

If this does happen it will be after the first of the year.

Any more interest ?

$350 plus shipping.

Matthew, I am potentially interested in this. I didn’t participate in the first series a few years back, but given that 21st Century Toys never made one and that crowd-sourced one from a couple years ago never panned out, your kit would be the way to get one in 1/18... If the project looks like it will be a “go” (i.e. you get more backers) then I will be interested in a kit.

I will be trying the new use of the yellow rubber rather than going with the stiff resin.
Hopefully this will not be the headache like the original tracks where.

Here is my first time using the yellow rubber on the Jumbo project.

New tracks without pins sounds good. The first tiger I posted above was
the one that I had one of the track pins go through my thumb.

I like to see 3D printed Tank tracks in the future. Grunts Panzer I
came out great and those tracks look fantastic. The snap together
tracks give the 1:18 vehicles a more realistic look.

Pickel whatever you come up with...I'm ready.

Speaking of tracks, if anyone has ever bought those Cobi (Lego knockoff brand from Poland) tanks, they make use of plastic snap-together pieces for the tracks that are quite nice and look fairly realistic... 3D printed snap-together track pieces may be the way to go...

If you guys are still interested I am taking orders now on the re-vamped King Tiger and Jagdtiger .

I do have to remake the molds on the project and could use the payments to get more mold rubber and resin.

$350 plus about $20-$30 shipping.

Shipping is starting to go through the roof !!!!!

Your welcome YT, you might have some difficulty finding
the zimmerit sheets but its worth it in the end.

Matthew the King Tiger still set for the new year?
