1/18 Figure Questions

Post by Axis Nightmare » Tue Sep 29, 2020 7:54 am

:?: OK experts, please help me out here. Sorting through the years of accumulation in preparing to thin the herd. Most of what I have is lose and may or may not be arranged with how it came in the package.

First is this German on a horse combo. It appears to be the Indy motorcycle driver on the horse. Was this an original item or just an attempt to duplicate the Band of Brothers scene?

Next, I didn't remember having this guy. Wondered what he was looking at - a Typhoon diving down on him? I looked in the index of 1/18 stuff and saw an artillery gut looking up a little but not with the long neck.

Image

Then it dawned on me it might have been designed to be in a prone position :?: Is this a common figure or an oddball? Did he come with this head and neck as an extra accessory?

Image

And finally, for now, does anyone know what these go to? One is a cloth coat. The other is a puzzler. It has a U.S. style belt clasp and is O.D. but a black belt like a German.

Thanks!

Axis, the German soldier and the horse are both from the 2008 Hasbro Indiana Jones figure line. The German went with a motorcycle while the horse had an Indiana Jones figure. In the next couple pictures, it appears you have a first series 21st Century Toys XD German figure body with a head from their later D-Day series Bruno Bauer figure. That later figure came with two heads, one designed to display the figure in a prone position, as you figured out. The last couple accessories include a cloth coat from a Star Wars Han Solo figure (trench coat the character wore on Endor in the Return of the Jedi film). The other coat is from a 21st Century Toys XD Battle of the Bulge US soldier figure.

Hope this helps :D

I figured one of you two would probably solve my mystery. I've learned a ton from both of you. Gonna go through some more and see if anything else has me confused. :?

Axis,
The last green coat is for a US figure.
You need to remove the arms from the figure.
Slide the coat over the head and body till the holes for the arms align with the opening of the coat.
There are arms that go with the coat that matches in color and thickness that looks like he is wearing a bulky winter coat.

My head is spinning going through these figures. Sorted out the extra body parts German or U.S. (I think) Also came across a Hobbit sized tank figure that's got me puzzled. Did they just make some smaller to fit in the turrets? The guy on right is normal sized with foot soldiers.

Yes they made some driver figures that are scaled down so they fit in the vehicles easier. I think there is also a scaled down 109 pilot and one that came with the panther tank. Here is a pic od the panther tank one.

I've seen smaller bbi pilots too.

Axis, lilfry14 is correct in what he posted above. All the first series XD vehicles and aircraft from 21st Century ThT were released in 2000 came with smaller figures, ostensibly so they could fit in the vehicles easier. Larger versions of some of the same figures were later released with other vehicles and as carded figures.

It was annoying as about a decade ago when JSI rereleased the first series 21st German figures, they used the small version of the German tank commander, and gave it a light blue uniform for some reason. It would have been fantastic had they released the full-sized version in the black panzer wrap uniform which came with the Tiger tanks.

I believe the figure on the right is from the BBI M4A3 Sherman.
