"Everyone posting here is a brigadier general! The thread is a little top heavy in brass."

Ha - Probably why nothing is getting done! That said, I tried some various Luke Skywalker heads on Joy Toy neck posts and generally the SW heads have a hole that is slightly larger than the ball at the end of the JT neck post. You can probably make it work with some poster putty.

I would welcome another company making WW2 figures, especially Joy Toy. I’ve got 2 sets so far and a couple extra single figures and they’re top notch 1:18 figures. I am not bothered by the joints as some people are because all I have to do is take off my bifocals and voila, no unseemly joints!

Thanks for chiming in! Was beginning to think only we high ranking opinionated serial posters were on here anymore. :P

Lol, all this brass reminds me of a special assignment that I worked near the pentagon after the 9-11 attacks. I didn’t know you could get so many generals and full colonels on one elevator 😉

I think 1/18 figures have about reached their zenith for ones without cloth clothing covering the articulation. These and the Marauders would be hard to improve on without $50 a figure.

I agree on the articulation; you can only do so much to hide it if you want them fully poseable. Personally, I think even clothes are problematic as they never seem to hang naturally off the figures and look stiff. Plus, even they suffer from other disadvantages of small reproduction with pockets, buttons, zippers, etc. that can only get so small.

And those JoyToys do look good but they could be better if the uniform insignia could be flattened a bit so you didn't have clunkage like medals and ribbons that are an inch or more thick if they were real size. I understand it makes painting those details easier but if that was a polystyrene kit I would file them down.

But all in all an big improvement over the 21st Century figures.

1/18 figures and smaller don't do well in closeup pictures. They're definitely candidates for the three foot rule. Cloth clothing at that scale is surely impractical.
I struggle with snaps, belts, hooks and buttons in full scale! 1/6 gives me fits at times. If they're small enough to be in scale, they're so delicate as to break easily. If they're robust like on GI Joes they look silly. Those Joy Toy figures could be as good as it gets. I'm sure at a reasonable distance they'd do well as great vehicle or scene accessories where 100% focus isn't on them close up where the thickness of the accessories is more easily noticed. 8) On the other hand, they're kinda expensive to be just a wallflower accessory.

UPDATE: JoyToy has new pics of these guys up on their instagram account and state that there are already 3 waves of Germans coming:

wave1 Wehrmacht (basic)
wave2 Wehrmacht (mountain)
wave3 Field Army (Camouflage)

Also it sounds like we may finally get Brits, Italians and Russians. :!:

"There will be many other countries and services in the future Stay tuned"

I like the German officer Figure, looks good.
How do the other new Wehrmacht (basic), Wehrmacht (mountain) and Field Army (Camouflage)
figures look? Went to their instagram account but it wouldn't let me view images.

They actually only have pics of what looks like wave one. 3 soft cap and 3 with helmets.

Some more Joy Toy 1/18 figures

This one I don't know what it is, German Fallschirmjäeger or US Airborne paratrooper. Or a combination of both.

2 US infantry

On this prototype, looks like it will be an SS but I am not sure if he's wearing a smock or a tunic

A German mortar and what it looks like a MG-08 with tripoid

German infantry, one with an unaccurate panzershreck

Yikes! The thick web gear straps are ugly on the U.S.troopers. And the tank tread surface texture doesn't help. It doesn't look anything like that. That first guy is wearing what looks like a U.S. reinforced Airborne uniform complete with Corcoran jump boots. The yellow tan color is too light but might just be the picture and I don't recall any of them in gas masks. I hope that's not supposed to be a Thompson in his hand. The weapons in general are a bit too chunky and oversized. The trooper on the right is holding what appears to be an M-1 Carbine. It's too big and I don't know what that cannon is on the other guys shoulder. I applaud them for trying to make accessories separate but if it can't be done without looking goofy, they should abandon it. Yes, I'm being critical. Yes, I'm spoiled by 1/6 figures and my full sized mannequins too I guess which makes me very familiar with web gear. Would be fine if they were $7 - $9 each but If they want $20 - $30 or more a piece for them....hmmm.... :| Sorry to be such a wet blanket. I'll leave the Germans up to someone else to critique.

Agreed, new stuff is always welcomed but a 4" figure for $25? That's over $6 per inch of plastic. Assembling even a squad will be expensive!

I’ll definitely pick up the germans to add to my marauder germans.

That’s nuts! One can still get complete WWII figures directly from the Marauder Inc. online store for $29.99. I got some Russians and British figures from the initial Kickstarter and have gotten more since. I also just ordered some German Panzer Grenadiers last week. I know $30 seems a lot for a figure when we were paying around $5 over a decade ago for the 21st and BBI figures, but these are the times we live in... The Marauder figures are a quality product though.

Only issue with Marauder is that they are swamped so it may take your order about a month to ship once it’s been placed...

Those ebay prices on the marauder figures are crazy. The JoyToy prices
are a bit high but I might get one of each set, Wehrmacht (basic)
Wehrmacht (mountain), and Field Army (Camouflage).

Get 'em now. Prices are only gonna go up if dealers buy them in mass quantities only to try and make a resale killing after they're allegedly hard to find. We're seeing it now, whether the "rare" descriptions are real or hype. Even the old stuff on eBay is stupid high.

Some years back when I was going to do a scene with my Schleich knights and a castle I was building, I bought several of these skeleton figures to make a skeleton warrior attack like the famous scenes in "Jason and the Argonauts". I recall them being less than $10 and got a few odd colored ones which I had to paint (pink and purple) even cheaper. Well I thought I'd get a few more and like the Marauders, the price has skyrocketed. So it 's not just WWII soldiers.

I don't know if people have seen the pricing for the WWII figures but I hope it's not $25 per. I just ordered the new JoyToy Delta Force set and each guy came in under $20. Not cheap but just a few bucks more than some pretty simplistic mass-market figures out now (I'm looking at you TVC).

It was actually the Marauders at the Joe Fest that were labeled $25. Will have to wait to see what Joy Toys will be.
