BBI F/A-18 packaged in brown cardboard box from factory?
There is a Canadian seller on e-bay offering 3 NIB Hornets, but he says they are in plain cardboard boxes with a stick on lable unopened from the factory and not the full color elite force window box. Anyone ever hear of this packaging? He said he got 4 from Sears in Canada. He's keeping one and selling the other 3.
f-18
Indeed a great price - although I do not think you get a pilot or a boarding ladder, just the bird. Still worth it imo. Seems like a case of samples or the like that was sent to Sears to check out - I can't believe they were originally meant for retail in a brown cardboard box.
definitely there is a pilot.....says there is an articulated figure with the plane.
You may be right, these may be samples sent to a head office that were in turn sold in a store. I'll try to remember to ask Mike if he knows anything about it. BBI 1/18 coming to Canada would be extra groovy!
Wish i didn't already have two bbi Hornets.....i could have save a bundle buying these..

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
well,
It also says 3 drop tanks and I only see two....he then says only what is in the photo comes out of the box. I guess he wouldn't say pilot if there were not one....an odd listing for sure, but worth a gamble it seems.
I was going to buy one, the seller has a 100% with a score of 537, but what Aferguson wrote has "cooled my jets." I almost clicked the Buy it now button but thought I should check the board on the issue first. Good looking out Aferguson! But I still want one!!

Hi Jonathan...I am aware of your order in the "plain box" but that is not a brown box...still does not alter the fact that we did not ship Sears.
Anyway, this will still be our Hornet...but it seems this guy may have "packaged it himself" so still a good buy...if it is "as new""

Sharing the link was much appreciated I'm sure, especially by those fellows who got one. Don't feel bad - you now have good karma.

Re: Response.
I concur also. I have a variety of these items coming from BBI at the end of the month. I do not know whether these are left-overs from a larger sale to a mail-order vendor (such as Sears) or just BBI clearing out inventory at the factory.
raiderad6 wrote:Yes it is true. It was offered to us online sellers as a pre-order through BBI. I was told it is the last remaining Products of the First issue F-18 Hornet, P-51 Mustang, LAV, and the Apache Helicopter. I of course ordered several of each. I am told today that they are now in New York shipping out next Tuesday to us.

I got mine yesterday and it's just like any other BBI Hornet except the packaging. Mike said BBI didn't ship to Sears, but even the lable on the box says it was imported into Canada by Sears.
